Martin County opened the season in dominant fashion with a 77–59 win over Shelby Valley, powered by one of the top sophomores in the state, Maci Maynard Maci Maynard 6'4" | C Martin County | 2028 State KY . The 6’4 center was an absolute force in the interior, finishing with 21 points and breaking the school’s single-game rebounding record with 24 boards. The Lady Cardinals will look to carry that momentum into Saturday’s matchup against St. Henry at the Madison Central Shootout.

She averaged 11.9 points and 12.3 rebounds, collecting double doubles nearly every night. Her size allows her to control the backboard and force opponents to rethink every shot in the paint. But Maci’s passing ability is what sets her apart; she is one of the best distributing post players in Kentucky, able to read defenses and create easy opportunities for teammates. Martin County’s hopes for a 57th District and 15th Region run rest heavily on her shoulders.

Maci Maynard Maci Maynard 6'4" | C Martin County | 2028 State KY had an outstanding freshman season for Martin County, establishing herself as one of the top young bigs in Kentucky. She averaged a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds per game, ranking 14th in the state for rebounds. Maci made the most of her paint touches and trips to the stripe, shooting 54% from the field and 71% from the free throw line. Her consistency was evident during the season, as she recorded 15 double-doubles and had 4 games with 20+ rebounds. Maci also reached 500 career points and 500 career rebounds. Maci Maynard Maci Maynard 6'4" | C Martin County | 2028 State KY comes in at #8. The 6’4 standout at Martin County is everything you expect her to be and more. She has an incredbily soft touch around the basket and knows how to finish with both power and finesse. Maci does work on the glass on both ends and her presence in the paint alone makes it hard to get anything at the rim on defense. She holds an offer from Alice Lloyd College and like Steve said, Maci has a long term upside that will only get higher as her career goes along.

Maci was UNSTOPPABLE in the post. She is a legit 6’4 center that has no problem getting up and down the floor! I was truly in awe of her size and skill. She showed soft hands when receiving the entry pass and was automatic scoring at the rim. Maci did a good job keeping the ball high and used her size and strength to gain ideal position for rebounds on both ends.

Maynard averaged 3.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in 31 games played in her first season at Martin County. She is 6’4 and moves well for her size. She does a good job clogging the paint and protecting the rim on defense; and scores very well around the rim on offense. Maynard will see significant minutes as a freshman for the Lady Cardinals.
