Lewis impacted the game on both ends. Offensively, she played with her head up, attacked the paint with power, and shot the ball with confidence. Defensively, her foot speed, active hands, and strength made her one of the toughest perimeter defenders at the event.

Kenzie continued to show why she is arguably the state’s top perimeter defender. She takes every defensive assignment personally, even in a showcase setting. Between her foot speed, active hands, and physical strength, she makes life difficult for opposing guards. She applies consistent pressure without giving up easy driving lanes and has the strength to bother bigger guards as well.

Lewis was arguably one of the tougher, physical players at the Expo. She attacks the basket and plays consistently off two feet. Good strength. Has a very explosive step and is unstoppable when she gains momentum and drives the lane. Showed good ability to knock down the three ball off the dribble and made contested shots with ease. One of the better all-around scorers in the gym. Just as effective on the defensive end forcing turnovers, getting steals and blocking shots.

Lewis brought exactly what people have come to expect from her. She picked up defensively from the opening game, made life difficult for opposing guards, and continued to show she’s one of the better floor generals in the state by consistently looking to create for others first.

The senior point guard added several offers during the spring live period. What stands out most about Lewis is her defensive presence. She consistently makes life difficult for opposing guards and brings a level of toughness that coaches value. On the offensive end, she has made noticeable strides as both a scorer and facilitator. She’ll have another opportunity to build on that momentum this July with VBC on the Super 40 circuit.

Lewis is a strong, tough point guard whose offense is catching up to her defense. On defense, she bothered ball handlers constantly with her quick hands and feet. Her offense looks smoother every time I see her. She looked comfortable shooting the three-ball and got into the lane consistently.

Mackenzie is a two-way guard with a high motor. She impacts the game on both sides of the ball. She is a reliable offensive threat and an efficient scorer who shot 45% from the field. When she attacks the basket, she does it with confidence. What stands out about Mackenzie’s game is her quick hands, her relentless pressure, and her anticipation. She, like Jaiyana, creates transitional opportunities through her defense. Mackenzie is a true competitor. I can see Mackenzie being a strong two-way contributor at the next level. She would fit a high-tempo collegiate offense. She is another big reason why Campo Verde is competing at a high level.

Mackenzie Lewis is a very good guard that plays well in the Campo Verde system which allows players to play multiple positions. Lewis can play both guard positions well. She is a good passer and scorer, and she is a very active defender. She has a high motor and she is a great communicator and leader for the Coyotes. Lewis has a veteran presence about her which is going to be critical in the Quarterfinals vs. Sandra Day O’Connor. Look for Lewis to be climbing the rankings as she enters her senior year.

Lewis was the steady hand that kept everything in control for the Coyotes against a tough, feisty Gilbert squad. She ran the show with poise, made the right reads, and kept her teammates in rhythm. Her court awareness stood out, especially in pressure moments, and defensively, she set the tone at the point of attack. True floor general performance that doesn’t always show up loud in the box score, but you feel her presence.

Kenzie Lewis is a terrific combo guard for Campo Verde and she will be a vital part for the team’s success in Las Vegas. She is a terrific defender and a floor leader. She can guard multiple positions and she does all of the little things that help teams win. I love her energy and passion as she is one of my favorite players to watch in Arizona.
