Houston, a versitile combo guard, had her game on full display this season for West Harrison high school on the way to an overall 3-20 record. Despite their record, Houston showed that she was a gamer. Putting up just over 23 PPG and 11 RPG, two impressive numbers to average no matter your class. Coming into this update Houston is placed at #28 in our 2024 rankings, a solid number to start at with the ability to move up depending on her future play. For a college program out there looking for a guard who can move around on the floor, works hard, and can score the ball, Houston might be the player for you.

Totaling a combined 541 points throughout her regular season, ranking her third in total points scored this season throughout the state of Iowa. This averages out to around 23.5 PPG. That’s not all though. Houston was also a machine on the glass, grabbing 10.3 RPG at the same time for the West Harrison Hawkeyes. While only being a junior, she has some time to grow and have even more success in the following season to come but knowing Houston she is going to be willing her team to put in a lot of work this offseason with how this year came to an end. They will be hungry and ready for next year to come out firing full force at their opponents right from the tip with Houston leading the charge. She has already proven she can score it and rebound it, what else is she going to show us she can do? Only time will tell.

The West Harrison Hawkeyes haven’t had the start that they would have liked coming into this season but that hasn’t stopped Maclayn Houston Maclayn Houston 5'7" | SG West Harrison | 2024 State IA from doing her thing and shinning on the floor. Houston, a fundamental guard with a nice handle, has been putting up some solid numbers for the Hawkeyes throughout their first 16 games. She is currently averaging 23.7 PPG on just about 50% shooting from the field, snagging 11 RPG, and dishing out 1 APG, leading her team in all 3 categories. At the moment she is leading the state in free throws made out of players in the junior class as well with going 131/202. This team plays hard. They compete each game and do what they can with the talent available. They never back down from a challenge and really ride with their leader in Houston, who sets up their offense and keeps everyone in line. This group is really young and has some promise looking toward the end of this year and into next season. There is a good mix between the grades and a lot of talent that could expand this summer into something really special.
