Anna Hart and the Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders put together a solid year for their 22′-23′ regular season campaign. Hart, who is only a freshman, has been fantastic thus far while attempting to take her team on a deep playoff run. Throughout the regular season they went 15-7 in 22 games. In this stretch she is averaging 8.9 PPG, and 3.9 APG. Not to mention that she led the entire state of Iowa throughout any class in steals this season with a total of 128, averaging out to a little over 5 per game. An impressive stat to lead in as only a freshman. This group has some potential with Hart at the point position. They have a good variety of players spreading across all grades that have chipped in consistently up until this point, giving them a lot of hope for the rest of this season and seasons to come in the near future. They play as a unit that communicates well and leaves everything on the floor. It’ll be interesting to see what Hart can do this post season, leading up until the AAU year. She has shown that she can score and get others involved while running an offense so it’ll really come down to whole else wants to step up around her this post-season.
Maclayn Houston Maclayn Houston 5’7″ | SG West Harrison | 2024 State IA scored the ball at will this year. Totaling a combined 541 points throughout her regular season, ranking her third in total points scored this season throughout the state of Iowa. This averages out to around 23.5 PPG. That’s not all though. Houston was also a machine on the glass, grabbing 10.3 RPG at the same time for the West Harrison Hawkeyes. While only being a junior, she has some time to grow and have even more success in the following season to come but knowing Houston she is going to be willing her team to put in a lot of work this offseason with how this year came to an end. They will be hungry and ready for next year to come out firing full force at their opponents right from the tip with Houston leading the charge. She has already proven she can score it and rebound it, what else is she going to show us she can do? Only time will tell.
Sydney Doeschot Sydney Doeschot 5’8″ | PG Kingsley-Pierson | 2026 State IA has been a friendly surprise for the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers during her freshman year. She has led her team to an overall 17-4 record while going 8-1 in conference, securing themselves a second place finish behind Westwood high school. During this season she has averaged just over 22 PPG while racking up just over 7 RPG as well. An impressive number especially for a freshman. I expect big things out of Sydney and the Panthers during the rest of this season and into the future. She is a sensational talent that really competes on both ends of the floor. She does a great job at leading a team and knows her role. A lot of production in this offensive system comes from upperclassmen so that she can step in, become the leading scorer while also rebounding and helping everyone around her says a lot. She is definitely going to be moving up in the rankings after a season like this, making her one of the top players in her 2026 class and for good reason. Her scoring ability jumps off the page. It’ll be a fun road to see where she ends up for her college career when it’s all said and done.
Highlights
Hailey Kipp Hailey Kipp 6’0″ | PF Dunkerton | 2026 State IA put on a season for the record books this year the way she rebounded the basketball. The Orient-Macksburg Bulldog star stacked the stat sheet with scoring and rebound during this season, averaging 13.6 PPG, and 18.5 RPG. Let me restate that, 18.5 rebounds per game. An incredible number no matter which way you state it. Boswell is interesting. She has a high ceiling with an act of rebounding the ball. She has a great instinct to know where the bal is going to land after a missed shot on both sides of the floor, giving her teammates a quick outlet for a transition bucket or another chance on their offensive end. With their season coming to an end during the first round of the playoffs this past week the Bulldogs will look toward the future. They will work in the offseason and adapt to what was thrown at them this past year, hoping it can help them succeed more as a program in its entirety. As for Boswell, keep an eye on her. This rebounding ability is special and could grow to being something a college coach could really desire at the next level in some facet. It’s an ability that “stands out in a crowd” if you will.
