Expert Analysis

Maddie has length and versatility that make her capable of contributing at multiple positions. She worked hard to make an impact as a rebounder and high-pointed the ball to secure an offensive rebound in a crowd. Maddie was very active on the offensive boards during the games for Team Wings and went up strong to score putbacks. She utilized the dribble, then made a good transfer to score a short jumper with touch. She changed speeds and hands effectively in the open court and showed off her range by sinking a smooth three from the wing. Maddie had a solid day at the Headliners Invitational Showcase and will be a prospect to follow at Forest Hills Eastern this winter.

Maddie returns for her sophomore season at Forest Hills Eastern after an impressive freshman year that saw her become the only freshman to earn First Team All-Conference honors in the OK White. The Hawks finished sixth in the conference last season, but Maddie gives them an exciting young piece to build around moving forward. Her length, athleticism and versatility allow her to play and defend multiple positions, while her burst off the dribble makes her a tough matchup when attacking downhill. Maddie also competes on the glass and uses her instincts and awareness defensively to get into passing lanes and create turnovers. I had the opportunity to watch her during the fall, where she also showed confidence as a perimeter shooter and knocked down open shots from behind the arc. After already establishing herself as one of the conference’s best players as a freshman, Maddie enters her sophomore season with an opportunity to take another big step forward.

Maddie made a great first impression at the PGH Expo with her length, athleticism, versatility as a guard-wing-forward, and ability to penetrate with a burst to get downhill on her drives. She creates matchup challenges and makes her presence felt as a determined rebounder. Maddie took that momentum into the Fall League and stood out in front of Danyle, showing good instincts and awareness on defense, staying active in the passing lanes to create steals, and demonstrating confidence as a perimeter shooter, hitting the open three. She had a productive freshman year and looks ready for an even bigger sophomore season at Forest Hills Eastern.

Maddie found ways to contribute on both ends of the floor during Week 1. Defensively, she showed good awareness when reading the action, jumping a passing lane to get a hand on the ball for a deflection. She also provided some rim protection with a block. On the offensive end, Maddie showed that she could step away from the basket and knock down the outside shot. Her ability to make plays defensively while also providing a perimeter scoring option allowed her to contribute in multiple areas.

Maddie is a prospect I was excited to watch in person for the first time at the PGH Michigan Expo. She showed the length/athleticism and basketball abilities that will make her a targeted wing-guard prospect in this class. Maddie was an aggressive downhill driver who demonstrated the ability to attack gaps and get to the basket throughout the day. She took the ball hard to the rim for a layup, changed hands with a good handle, demonstrated confidence as a threat from beyond the arc, stayed active on the glass, and used excellent pivots to protect the ball against reaching defenders. Maddie was a productive member of Team 5, and she looks ready to have a big sophomore season.
