Maddie has been on a heater for the past few weeks. She picked up the MVP award at the DMV Hall of Fame Showcase in December and followed that up with the Player of the Game Award at the Public vs. Private Challenge earlier this month. She’s been scoring from all the court, but has been especially dangerous driving to the basket and getting to the foul line. She’s one of the front runners for Baltimore City Player of the Year.

Madison is listed as a small forward but has the versatility to play positions one through four. Her quick first step allows her to get downhill and separate from defenders. She is most effective in transition, where her in-game decision-making consistently puts herself and her teammates in strong scoring positions.

Madison came out and dominated this game from the start. She dropped 12 first half points, all on slashes and drives to the hoop. In the second quarter she showed off her range by knocking down three long three-pointers. She finished with a game high 23 points.

At this point I think Maddie’s best position is shooting guard. She’s quick and has a nice burst on her first step so she cans to the rim fairly easily. She’s a volume scorer and might end up leading Baltimore City in scoring. She has a reliable shot out to the three-point line and she brings a ton of energy on defense.

Reports from Twitter shows that Madison has had a nice summer showing on the Nike EYCL circuit. Thanks to Team Takeover for sharing highlight videos (yes we watch that stuff). She looks effective getting the most of her two steps after finishing her dribble. She also can pull up from the mid-range. Reports that she have grown to 5’11” and playing multiple positions. I got a call from a coach that was considering her at point guard, at that size she would fall in the elite category at that position.

Madison attacks the basket well and finishes. She has the ability to change speeds in the lane to throw off the timing of the defender. She secures the ball in traffic and creates contact giving her multiple opportunities at the line. Her shot will keep defenders honest forcing them to play up on her which gives her more chances to attack.

Quick guard with a strong first step and some length. She consistently gets into the paint where she has developed a knack for finishing at the rim. She’s a solid on ball defender with good lateral quickness. If she develops a consistent perimeter shot she can contribute at the next level.
