Makenzie is a very intriguing young prospect who stepped in and played quite a bit as a rookie for Penn this Winter. She is extremely long and wiry, she’s fluidly athletic, and she even has a little bounce to her. What I like is, even though she needs to continue getting stronger, she plays with a motor and tries to be physical at both ends of the floor. That type of attitude will do her well once she does finish growing and gaining strength. She is also skilled at all three levels, both offensively and defensively, and she is possibly still growing…she is closer to 5-11 now.

She showed great body control, long lengthy frame allows her to score in multiple ways. Runs the floor well really impressive with her overall game. Cuts well to the ball, and able to catch and score.

Penn is another school who seems to be finding success with younger players, and Makenzie got the early call-up this season for the Kingsmen. The young forward has some strength for her age, a nice motor, and she figures out ways to be productive. She is most effective still in the mid-post, but I think over time she will transition to being more of a traditional wing around the perimeter. Thus far, she is averaging 6.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game for the Kingsmen, but she has scored in double figures twice in their last 5 games, including a season high of 13 against New Prairie on January 16th.
