Expert Analysis
Brandon Fisher | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Laine put together one of the more impressive all-around performances of the first GUAA live period while playing up with the 16U WV Thunder KY squad that went 3-2. She led the team in scoring, blocks, and steals while also finishing second in both rebounds and assists, impacting nearly every facet of the game. A true three-level scorer, Laine elevates well both finishing offensively and contesting shots defensively, while her motor consistently shows up on both ends of the floor. She’s also a strong passer and rebounder who makes the players around her better with her feel and versatility. Her strong start to her career has already helped her secure over a handful of Power 4 offers, with Michigan and Michigan State being the most recent additions.

had a very impressive freshman season at Culver Academy and quickly established herself as one of the young names college coaches are beginning to monitor closely. Already holding multiple offers, Lyles has shown advanced skill development for her age and plays the game with confidence and poise.
As a guard, she impacts the game in several ways offensively. She can score at all three levels, create opportunities off the dribble, and knock down perimeter shots with consistency. What separates her is her understanding of pace and spacing, allowing her to play under control while still being aggressive offensively.
Defensively, Lyles competes with energy and continues to improve as an all-around player. Because of her early production, skill level, and growing recruiting attention, she is already viewed as one of the early players to watch in future 2029 Indiana Miss Basketball discussions.

The former Webb Feet athlete was getting after it on both sides of the ball. Her ability to utilize her speed to affect the game is second to none. When the ball is in her hands, she can take over a ball game and really affect the outcome. This kid can take it coast to coast, having such determination that leaves kids falling by the wayside. She has a knack for being around the ball on the defensive end. She either locks up the opposition in front of her or is in a helpside position and jumps the passing lanes and heads the other way for an easy lay. My point that I am trying to make is that this kid is something special, and I personally see what these Power 4 coaches are seeing. She is a true X factor that impacts the game in a multitude of ways.

Athletic. It definitely shows, as she was probably the most athletic kid on the floor. She just causes problems, and her speed is one of the attributes that sets her apart from others. All the attention seems to shift onto her when she is on the court, as good things tend to happen. She is a downhill threat that can score the basketball, but also contributes big-time on the defensive end. Look for her to jump onto even more coaches’ radars after this weekend.

Only an 8th grader, this kid is making waves throughout the state. She is a shifty guard who can get to the rim with ease and knock down open shots from the floor. Her speed and quickness present a threat to opponents as she locks them up, getting tons of steals and deflections. She is a go-getter and someone who is always around the ball. A heady basketball player who has tons of athleticism.

Speed demon that gets after it on both ends of the floor. Her D does the talking as she is a menace on that side of the ball. Talk about putting someone in a seatbelt, this girl does that and then some. Has great reactionary skills. Heck, I have just mentioned what she does on defense. Offensively, she can knock it down from 3, put it on the floor, and dip into her bag for a jumper or unleash her floater game, and she can finish smoothly at the rim. This kid is special and she will be a steal for someone at the next level.

She may be an 8th grader but she is one of the best around. Plays with speed and more speed, it’s hard to tame this kid. She can knock it down from 3, but also put the ball on the floor to get to the rim. She’s selfless, but what I love about her game is on the defensive end. She anticipates well. When she is on the ball, she is active, pressuring the ball handler, keeping her in front. She is solid off ball, in a stance, ready to shoot the gap to take the ball the other way. This kid is more than solid and is a beast not only for her age, but the district as well. Keep an eye on this kid because she is just getting started.

young talent that will be a major factor for this Lady Feet ball club. Only an 8th great, she possesses size and speed and can score it from all 3 levels. She is poised with the ball in her hands. Confident as she shoots it from multiple spots on the floor. Plays tenacious defense that leads to turnovers that equate to easy buckets. Fan? Absolutely. This kid plays hard and she leaves nothing to chance on each possession. One of the best in her class, she will be creating waves around here for a few years moving forward. Look for her to be one of the next top kids to come from the program.
