Making it in the top 30 in this class is impressive especially when your moving from the 70’s. She can play either guard position and hopefully her coaching change will work in her favor.

Makyiah has been patient and with her patience she has been getting sharper. Her floor time a has went up and her numbers have improved. Talked to some coaches that were pleased with what they saw at some out of town tournaments. If she stays consistent with her path her future is on the rise.

PVI vs Mt Zion was a very low-scoring game in which Mt Zion took total control after a big PVI first quarter. PVI is a good defensive team, but with all their injuries and lack of experience, they have trouble scoring, so this game was poised to be lower-scoring. Junior Guard Makyiah Ward had a nice game and led Mt Zion in scoring with 12. She knocked down a few threes and helped spark a Mt Zion offense that had a lot of trouble scoring early. She forced a couple of turnovers and used them to get run-outs that led to easy points. Makyiah was named the player of the game.

Makyiah lands at her third school and now will have to adjust to not being the go to player every play. With a coach named “Boogie” she will get opportunities to be creative. At DMV Live we saw some of those plays that made her special in public school. If she has to adjust to coming from a double digit scorer to a single digit scorer can she find other ways to make her relevant? It appears se will get the court time to show what she’s got.
