Mackie is going to be a tough matchup for any player when the floor starts to shrink during the playoffs. She’s not just fast, she’s quick, and she has enough energy and stamina to keep her defenders uneasy every game. She rarely stands in one spot, and when she does cut.. she sometimes will draw another defender to cut her off or eyes, which allows her teammates an easier bucket. She fits perfectly into their system.

Mackie is no stranger to big games and big shots. The Wash U commit is lethal on both ends of the court. One thing that always stands out to me is her gritty effort and communication. She sees the court well, and when her teammates need help, she is there. She plays with a burst of energy in every step and brings a dynamic style to every possession—she’s constantly moving, making smart decisions, and lifting the intensity of her team. She never shies away from pressure she is always defending, scoring, or encouraging her team. She stays calm in clutch moments and a key piece to this Rambler team.

Mackie has never allowed her size to stop how hard she plays this game. She is a blur and has no off button. On both ends of the court, she’ll make things happen.. but especially on the offensive side. She’ll attack the bigs in the paint.. and has no problem letting it go from outside.

Since high school season has ended, Mackie has seemed to add another gear to her game. She’s quick and aware on the defensive end, which usually leads her to a fast break or opens up the floor for her to make plays in the open court. She can get to the rim with a simple but effective in and out or a hard cross. Every movement made allows her to excel downhill.

Prior to seeing Kennedy Lane compete this past three day’s, I would have told you that my favorite guard is Marycait Mackie Marycait Mackie 5'6" | SG Loyola Academy | 2026 State IL of All in Athletics 2026 3SSB. Mackie is the type of Point Guard that all coaches love to have in their lineup. She has a fundamental but crafty dribble, she understands situational basketball more than most at this age, she is always communicating to her teammates or listening to her coach, and she is a game changer on the defensive side of the ball. In multiple contests I watched Mackie dive on the floor or into the stands for a loose ball, showing what she is really bout. Another thing that I love about her game is that she stands out without scoring the ball but in basically every other way. Don’t get me wrong, she can score but she usually isn’t going to be the one to put 30 on you. Instead, she will have 15 Points, 2 or 3 Rebounds, 7-9 Assists, and 1-2 Steals. This was a good start to her AAU season, hopefully she can build on this momentum moving forward.

One of those players that just doesn’t stop moving, and she gets a ton of buckets because of it. Leak outs, fast break steals or corner cuts.. the kid has no off button on her motor. Players like that can change a game in an instance.

Marycait is EVERYWHERE. Has great enthusiasm on the court. Wherever the ball is, Marycait can be found. She ends up on the winning end of the rebound battle against taller girls with ease. Strong handles and seems to find the best available shooter on the court. Will make a huge impact on her HS team this year.
