Akpotayobo transferred from out of state and had me scratching my head on how I missed her as she used her size and strength to dominate inside the paint. The more I watched her, the more I was intrigued with her skill set as her “hands and footwork” was solid, she finished around the basket after contact plus she even showed the ‘drop step” yet her rebounding on both ends as well as interior defense was solid as she moves up 7 spots

Akpotayobo was a pleasant surprise at The Opening yet to stop me from wondering how I missed her, I was given an assist from my Kansas PGH colleague Robert Kelly who sent me a message she transferred. Her power around the basket is what initially grabbed my attention, along with how she did things fluidly at her size. She rebounded strongly on both ends, yes she went AFTA the ball, but she also scored around the rim using nice moves as well as solid hands and footwork. Her defense was also a big plus

Akpotayobo just missed being added to the Top 100 when I caught her at The Opening and I was scratching my head on why I hadn’t seen her. Texas is big, there are so many different platforms yet players like this rarely go unnoticed by a REAL EVALUATOR so when I found out she was a move in from Kansas. Her sheer power and mobility immediately stood out, along with her imposing presence inside the paint but her “hands and footwork” were nice as it got her easy baskets, sometimes with players literally hanging on her yet watching her interior defense as well as rebounding on both ends and blocking shots will be a big plus for her star studded team taking a deep run in the playoffs
