Brittany Magee | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Herbert is tough to guard because of how well she reads the defense and scores around the basket. She attacked one-on-one opportunities, finishing through contact for an and-one, spinning off her pivot for a finish at the rim, backing down defenders in the post, and using an up-and-under move while protecting the ball for another bucket, all while showing the ability to step out and knock down the three. She also ran the floor well in transition, made smart passes, and adjusted her finishes based on the defense, showcasing the footwork, skills, and IQ to score in a variety of ways.

Morgan recently committed to Coastal Carolina University not too long before the event started, so I was intrigued to see her play for YKS. In the game versus Havoc I saw why Herbert was so valued by college coaches on the division one level. When she got the ball on the block or in the painted area, Morgan finished with great skill and consistency. Her foot work and agility were very impressive as she used her jab step, shot fakes, and up and under moves to get her defender off balance and off their feet before smoothly scoring around the rim. She also utilized a very nice spin moves a couple of times in the game I saw her play before finishing over taller defenders. Herbert was active and aggressive rebounding the ball and played solid man to man defense for YKS both in the half court and full court pressing situations. She looked like she has the physical ability and skills to play further from the basket if Coach Kevin Pederson and his staff choose to use her in that way over the next five years.

Moreover, her game blends old-school toughness with modern versatility. She battles for rebounds with physicality and leads the break with confidence. Already holding multiple Division I offers, Herbert’s recruitment continues to trend upward. However, a dominant senior season could elevate her stock even higher.

A solid hoop game is like a house, if the foundation is not solid it will crumble, and Herbert’s game is built on a foundation of hard work, and fundamentals.

Any time Herbert steps on the floor the threat of a double-double looms. A Consistent 20 and 10 threat. Herbert is a throwback to post players of the past.

Already having several Division 1 offers, Herbert’s game, that is based around solid fundamentals, a strong work ethic, and blue collar approach could see her making a day one impact at whichever program she chooses at the next level.
