About Naomi

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a dominant force in the paint, making it incredibly hard for teams without size like mine to create plays into the paint. Usually when I’m on the floor, other teams have to resort to 5-Out action rather than having anyone in the paint. Offensively, I dominate mainly by the block but I am also very good at scoring from high post and making close shots from cuts or rolls.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Myself and all my coaches would describe me as determined. Though I only have 2 years of experience, I have dedicated myself to putting in the work I need every day in order to get better. I push myself to compete with the best in order to become the best. I’m a perfectionist, but I think this strengthens me rather than weakening me. I will not stop until I am the best.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am National English Honor Society Officer of my school. I have received either Honor Roll or the Principals List Award every semester of highschool and am a mainly Straight A student.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being Team Captain at Arundel High, I’ve learned what it means to be a leader because I must set an example in all ways possible. I’ve learned that leadership is not just how I present myself, but a mindset that I must live by. Also being Officer of NEHS, I’ve been able to direct and coordinate various community service projects alongside my peers; book drives and volunteer work at local schools.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Since I only started taking basketball seriously my junior year of high school, I am hundreds of steps behind the girls I play against. Every other girl on my Team Takeover club team had been in the gym since they were 5-6 years old. I still had to start from scratch, but this taught me the value of getting extra reps in and working 5x harder than those around me.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that will develop me to become an elite player with an elite mentality, while also prioritizing my education, team bonding, and community involvement. I also aim to find a college that will give me the most academic and athletic scholarships opportunities.
