has an offensive game that is both extremely effective and rare. Her game on the offensive side features the ability to finish around the basket with both her left and her right hand. It also features a lethal mid-range jumper. Richard Watson often plays out of the high pos. Her ability to turn around and knock down a mid-range shot makes her an extremely hard guard for defenders. Even though, this shot is not utilized as often as it was in the past, Richmond-Watson has shown it still has a place in the modern game today in high school girls basketball.
She pairs this offensive game with an above-average rebound ability and solid interior defense.

Payton is one of the most patient post players that you will find. She continues to showcase elite footwork anywhere in the paint area. She has the ability to use both feet and hands to make a move. She’s a rebounding machine and she works incredibly hard when she is on the floor. I’ll reiterate that Richmond-Watson is going to be a steal for a coach at the next level!

Payton is still a truce force anywhere in the paint area. She has great size with a strong frame, and she knows exactly how to use her body. She finishes great around the rim with either hand. I love her patience in the paint area. She’s a rebounding machine on both ends of the floor. Payton draws a lot of attention in the paint area, and she passes extremely well out of the double team. This is a ’27 to keep your eyes on!

Payton continues to dominate the low post. She did an excellent job rebounding, and finishing around the rim. She’s a consistent athlete when it comes to utilizing her size and strength to rebound and score with either hand around the rim. I love her decision making when it comes to finding the open teammate instead of forcing any bad shot. She’s an excellent passer out of the paint! She continues to do a great job protecting the rim, and doing whatever is asked of her! This kid is going to be a steal for a few schools at the next level!

Strong as an ox, this young lady is going to bulldoze her way to where she wants to go. People don’t like her physicality, and it shows when opponents try to bang with her. She establishes position well down low, finishing over either shoulder. She, too, can face up and score; her footwork is impressive as she unleashes multiple counter moves. She is resilient, fun to watch, and brings that lunchpail attitude to each and every game. No matter the contest (AAU or school ball), this young lady is a difference maker.

Payton has put up numerous double-doubles this season. Richmond-Watson is the inside presence that can stretch the floor offensively. If you leave her open, she can knock down the long ball and mid-range consistently. She has put up stat lines like 10 points and 19 rebounds. She can put up big numbers any time that she is on the court. She does well absorbing contact and finishing around the rim. She continues to use her size and strength to control the paint and rebound exceptionally well. I watched her mid-season highlights and she continues to show why she has all the tools to dominate!

Richmond-Watson came into high school with the reputation of being a highly skilled post who can score both with her back to the basket, or facing the rim. While she’s still learning how to consistently be the high level scorer I eventually believe she’ll become, her ability to rebound and use her length to defend the rim is already at a varsity level.
She plays with a physical edge defensively that give her a chance to be really good on that end. Her offense will take care of itself.
She gives Powell the chance to have a really nice inside/out offensive attack.

since she was an 8th grader at Powell MS. She’s had an impactful for Powell as a freshman, and I’m expecting a big time jump from her. She has all the skills to be a big time scoring post…with some of the best “old-school” back to the basketball post moves in her class. (She’s the East TN 2027 Kevin McMcHale–sorry kids–ask dad or Google it).
She finished the season averaging 7 points, 7 rebounds, and a block. The potential is there however for a breakout. She scored 200 total points while only shooting 40% from the floor. I promise you, that number will rise. She also shot 25% from three on an attempt a game….and she has the touch to really stretch the floor.

Simply put, the PF does her job and she does her job exceptionally well! The FBC Reign team is a phenomenal young squad that has athletes at every single position! Payton is going to battle on the low block every possession. She is going to make you alter shots when you drive, and she is going to get the rebound when you miss! She’s a tough inside presence that works hard! She excels when her back is to the basket and she can knock down the open outside shots too! There is so much to love about Payton’s game and this FBC squad!

-Watson is one of the strongest back to the basket players I have coached this young in a while. She has the ability to put someone on their but and score and adds to that with how well she rebounded ! She also pulls the defense out with her ability to step out and shoot as well !! She protects the paint with rebounding and blocking shots !
