Bender has always impressed me on the offensive end and there was no shortage of offense in her game this weekend, but I was really impressed by her defense as well. She was constantly coming up with steals, deflections, and blocks. She consistently showed her ability to score at all 3 levels, whether creating looks herself or finishing off of passes from her teammates.

Unless someone can de-throne the champs, Bender will win a state championship every single year of her high school career, a feat I don’t think anyone else in KHSAA GBB history can say. There aren’t many players that can put the ball in the basket like Bender as she is an impressive high-volume shooter from anywhere on the court. Bender can really put the ball in the basket and she can do it at all levels. She has great shooting form and a quick release. She can knock down shots off of the dribble or catch, or hit on the move. Bender also has strong handles and can push the ball in transition. She makes great passes and has good floor vision. She constantly knows where her teammates are and gets them the ball in the right moments. She is a very solid all-around player that should have a big summer.

Bender is one of the best scorers in the state. Despite playing on a very talented Sacred Heart team, she is often a focus for opposing teams because of her high volume scoring ability. In this year’s state tournament, we actually heard coaches talk about how they placed a focus on stopping her scoring and were still unable to do so. Even if she misses a few shots, she can score at all 3 levels and will find a way to get herself going. Bender can create excellent looks for both herself and her teammates. She consistently makes good stuff happen in transition and in half-court sets. She has now won a state championship every single year of her high school career, so she’s also a proven winner. Bender averaged 15.2 PPG and 3.1 RPG this season, while shooting nearly 50% overall and 33% from the 3-point line.
