Stephenson provided a formidable interior presence for a 5A Division 2 Chapin team in the first season of the Terence Jones era. A multi-sport athlete who also competes in softball and volleyball, Stephenson decided that basketball would her collegiate sport of choice and that Lander would be her school of choice. Stephenson played in 25 of the Eagles’ 26 contests this past season and would average 9.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.6 steals per game. Her play would be a major reason why Chapin made a postseason run to the 5A Division 2 Lower State semifinals.

Much of what 5A Division 2 Chapin gets accomplished on offense is predicated on its interior presence. That is where Stephenson comes in. She placed 18 points on the scoreboard against a tough 3A out in St. Joseph’s Catholic that resulted in a 52-39 win for the Eagles. While Stephenson is effective in converting on high-percentage baskets, a midrange jump shot is also part of her offensive repertoire. Stephenson is also an effective rebounder and the 5-foot-10 stature she presents enables her to win plenty of battles on the boards. Playing with her back to the basket in the post is another element to Stephenson’s game. She is a multi-sport athlete who also plays volleyball and softball.

Around the midpoint of last month, Stephenson landed her first college offer from South Carolina Central Christian College. Recently, she added a second offer from Spartanburg Methodist College to her list. Throughout her career, she has also played volleyball and softball in addition to her foray into basketball. Stephenson played in 25 games last season at 5A Division 2 Chapin. She averaged seven points, 5.8 rebounds and one block per contest. The Eagles will be an interesting team to watch this season as Stephenson will be under the tutelage of former Denmark-Olar coach Terence Jones for her senior campaign.
