About Sami

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Team ball. Play maker. I always try to do what's best for my team, in whatever role I'm playing.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I show up to work, with the intention of being successful while still having fun.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I'm involved in: Student Council, Knowledge Bowl, Math Team, School Forest Committee, I am a MSHSL Choir Award Recipient, and an A Honor Roll student. Various volunteer work including: coaching younger athletes, natural disaster aid, and STEM Showcase.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

The Mountain Iron-Buhl basketball program has helped evolve me into a team leader. The community has always supported MIB basketball, and I am proud to give back by helping to coach our younger players. It's also been a true blessing to be able to play for the Starks program under great college coaches. They have taught me other aspects of basketball that have helped improve my game.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My 8th grade year I was asked to step up to a varsity starting role. Although intimidating, I was able to prove to myself that I could handle the pressure. It was also a great opportunity to learn and play with my talented older teammates. Such as Sage Ganyo, Jordan Zubich, and Hali Savela.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm open to any college that will continue to help me grow athletically and academically.

+8 – Like many of her teammates, the big guard has often been overshadowed by the talent ahead of her on the Rangers roster. Now that Jordan Zubich is wearing North Carolina blue, and Hali Savela is clad in Jamestown orange, it’s time for Warwas to get some shine. Sami is unlikely to play a starring role like those two but her valuable contributions usually fall into the “do whatever it takes to win” category. She’s a gamer with a high IQ and the drive to be great. Sami moves up eight to #72.
