has had her foot on the gas all senior year and has not let up this postseason. In the playoffs, she has posted scoring games of 33 and 15 points. In the 33 point performance, she shot 52 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line. Gaines is not afraid of the big lights or the big moments she consistently rises to the occasion. Competing in one of the toughest regions in the state, Gaines is determined to help lead her team to the state tournament, and she has both the skill set and leadership to make that happen.

is having her best year yet, and everything is clicking for her this season. She has made 209 field goals, which ranks #48 nationally. Shelby is averaging 24.1 PPG, using her ability to slash to the rim, pull up in the mid-range, score off the catch, and remain automatic at the free throw line, where she is shooting 81% after making 101 of her 125 attempts.
Gaines’ consistency has been a major part of her success, as she is also shooting 52% from the field. The senior guard is showing that she is one of the most well-rounded scorers in the state.

is one of the top scorers in the city of Jacksonville and is making a case as a top-tier offensive scorer in the state. Gaines definitely is a multi-level scorer who puts constant pressure on defenses with her ability to create shots off the bounce. Her handles are good, and she excels with her change of pace and direction, keeping defenders off balance. Gaines understands angles extremely well and consistently gets to her spots. While she doesn’t rely heavily on the three-point shot, she can knock it down when needed. Where she’s most dangerous is in the midrange, where her pull-up game is elite and difficult to guard. Gaines is presently averaging over 24 points per game, and the impressive part of her game is that she lets the game come to her and doesn’t chase points.

is consistently putting up numbers that are not seen too often on the high school level. Gaines scored 22, 29, and 26 in her last three outings. The senior guard is not only scorching the scoreboard, but is also tearing it up on the glass- and from the guard position. Even more impressive is that she is averaging a double- double in points and rebounds for the season. Gaines went over the 1000 point mark and and now has her sights set on 1500 points. She has been one of the most consistent offensive players in the first half of the season. Every outing Gaines is threatening to score 25 points and grab at lease 10 boards. What makes her scoring even more impressive is that her scoring comes from mainly from midrange daggers and layups off of turnovers and fast break scores. Gaines is not just the orchestrator on the offensive end, but leads her team’s defensive effort as well.

continues to strengthen her résumé as one of the most consistent bucket-getters in the state. She surpassed 20 points all week long, posted multiple double-doubles, and currently averages 24 PPG, 11.1 RPG, and nearly 4 SPG—from the point guard position. In one outing Gaines posted an amazing 35 point-18 rebound effort. Gaines is a true scoring weapon whose production demands coaches’ attention.

continued her stellar play, showing that in addition to scoring, she is also a playmaker who is able to get her teammates involved. Gaines draws so much attention, that she will likely lead her team in assists and scoring. The offensive package was on display with Gaines scoring 20 points or approaching 20 in multiple games. She attacked the rim, pulled up for the potent midrange game, and got down hill to the rim. Gaines bucket getting performance was normal. She continues to raise her stock.

came out of the gate looking like a player who spent the off-season working on her game. Her Week One performance for Bishop Snyder was electric as she showcased a three-level scoring display that positioned her as one of the top early-season guards in the area. Gaines opened the season with 25 points against a tough San Jose Prep squad, carrying the offensive load. She followed that outburst with a 31 point – 15 rebound effort against Paxon and a 17 point performance against Fort White. Gaines played downhill with purpose, attacked gaps, and showed an improved three point shooting stroke. Gaines is playing with confidence, playing with pace, and playing like one of the premier bucket-getters in the region.

Shelby had her midrange cooking all night, carving up Nease’s defense with smooth pull-ups and decisive attacks. She jumped passing lanes and ripped ball handlers for clean steals and finishes in transition. Gaines was confident, composed, and efficient — she played like someone who knew exactly where her spots were and that she was the top bucket-getter on the court. College coaches were in the building and Gaines’s lost art-midrange left them impressed.

. Each year Gaines has added something new— and now that momentum is impossible to ignore. Gaines has elevated every part of her game: she can get in the lane and score at will, she impacts both ends of the floor, and her midrange in the set offense or in transition is deadly. Defensively, her quick hands, anticipation, and ability to turn steals into fast-break points make her a constant problem for opposing guards and teams. At the most recent PGH Expo was how seamlessly she competed against elite-level guards. Instead of taking a backseat, she matched their energy and sometimes got the better of them. Gaines has the ability to lead her own team, but she also blends beautifully with high-level talent, showing poise and confidence that can translate to the next level. College coaches noticed it too – I have heard a few talking about it. Her aggressiveness, polish, and two-way impact make her the kind of guard college coaches want.

showed a lot of versatility to her game and had the ability to impact the game in various ways. Defensively, she anticipated plays before they happened, often intercepting passes and turning them into easy transition points. Sometime Gaines controlled tempo and was a play maker for her team. This was very apparent in transition where she led the break, forced the double-team and dished to her teammates for the bucket. Gaines also created her own offense when necessary, using her craftiness and speed to get downhill and finish through traffic. Gaines has raised her game to the point that she looked elite in a room filled with the state’s best talent.
