About Shelby

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a versatile, well rounded player playing every position for at least a full season throughout my career. I am unselfish and willing to trust my abilities to score, rebound, and play pesky defense. I am not the fastest but make up with my hustle, mid-range shot, and finishing.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a lock in mentality where I am constantly determined to be better than I was yesterday. I focus on what I can change to improve and not what is out of my control. I am an adaptable, charismatic, self-motivated and disciplined individual open to criticism.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently involved in clubs including Spanish, photography, and working on getting into medical club. I am also apart of the unified track team at Penn High School. I have received academic awards earning a patch for keeping a 3.5 or higher gpa for 4 semesters straight. I also have an internship with Wells of Inspiration as a youth advocate and social media manager.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through sports, clubs, and other social activities, I have done clean ups in the community, developed critical skills such as time management, patience, and resilience. This was developed through community service, coaching younger kids, and keeping up with being multi-sport student athlete.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In June of 2024, I tore my ACL and partially my MCL with a devastating knee injury. I had to relearn how to walk again while watching my teammates dominate from the sidelines. Doing so only boosted my love for my sisters in basketball, emotional intelligence, and determination.

What type of college are you looking for?

Due to being apart of 21 Century Scholars program and Early College Academy, I am seeking an Indiana college preferably public but I am open to out of state or private colleges.
