Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Sydney was consistent, reliable, and poised with the ball in her hands throughout the PGH Michigan State Tournament. Her effectiveness and effort helped MBA UA Rise 15U win the Gold Bracket Championship. Sydney used a quick crossover to go right by her defender for a straight-line layup, took the ball hard downhill to cause a foul, swished a straightaway three, and made a nice transfer for a catch and finish layup. Sydney shot the ball well from beyond the arc across multiple games. She connected from up top, the slot, the corner, and the wing. Sydney chased down rebounds on both ends in the Championship Game, drained a corner three, and knocked down another dagger up top off the bounce. She handled the ball well against pressure and turned in a great weekend for her team.

Sydney blew me away when I saw her play for the first time with Lansing Catholic at the Hemlock Holiday Showcase. She’s a pesky defender, shifty ball-handler, great facilitator, and confident three-point shooter. Sydney creates shots for herself and teammates. She has those prototypical point guard instincts that you want, and that’s why I believe Sydney will be very successful at the Headliners Invitational Showcase.

Sydney kept Lansing Catholic in the game and turned heads with her shifty playmaking at the Hemlock Holiday Classic. She swished deep straightaway threes and free throws with a confident wrist-snapping follow through. Sydney escaped full court pressure and drove hard to the rim. She turned ball-handlers with her quick footwork on defense and reached in to create steals. Sydney had the ball on a string and scored a sweet double-crossover drive-by layup. She chased down rebounds with an all-out effort and contributed in all phases. Sydney led the team with 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds, swiped three steals, and dished out two assists.
