Everyone’s journey in the recruitment process is different. It all depends on the situation within the family and the school recruiting said player.

of Johnson Brock High School was patient during her journey but that doesn’t change the fact that she was dedicated to playing at the next level. Eventually, Ottemann signed with Grand View (NAIA) out of Des Moines to continue on her basketball path and I think she is going to be very important in her team’s success over this Playoff journey. Ottemann does stand right around 6’0, she has great muscle mass to pair along with that, and she is a hard-worker. She is a post that likes to do her work early in a possession, so that things become easier later on. Johnson Brock is putting together a Winter they will never forget. They are sitting at 22-1 at the moment with their eyes on the prize. If they continue to do what they have done all season long, then this group will be a tough out for opposing programs on any given night.

of Johnson-Brock High School and a few days ago she committed to Grand View in Iowa to continue on her journey. Ottomann is a solid body with a physicality about her and some good knowledge of when, to do what on the floor. As for Grand View, this is the program’s 2nd-3rd pickup the past few weeks from prospects out of the state of Iowa and Nebraska. This is a program that is known for their fundamental play style so as long as they continue to teach these prospects their system, they should continue to do well moving forward.

compete last Fall during out PGH Showcase in Omaha, she stood out as someone that can bring some positivity and balance to the floor. Ottemann competes at the Forward position and she seems to hold her own against any competition. I have yet to see a situation where she is completely outmatched by whoever is lining up across from her and that is promising in the grand scheme of things. As a Junior last Winter, Otteman led her 2025 Class in RPG for the D1 Class. As long as she continues to work hard and stays in love with the game of basketball, i’d expect some similar numbers over these next six months and leading into college, if that’s the route she chooses to take at the end of the day.

prior to the high school season last Fall, I was impressed with what she could do with her size and skill-set. Ottemann is a Post prospect, that moves really well down the floor in the aspects of running from rim-to-rim, doing her work early on within a possession. As time has gone on, she has seemingly gotten better, showing that she is still far from her full potential. As of most recent, she has shown this AAU season that she is a handful near the basket in the terms of scoring and rebounding. When she has time to make a play and use her size to her advantage, she is very tough to stop in 1v1 matchups. She has been so good as of late that she recently received an offer to compete with the Simpson Storm out of Iowa, following her high school career. I’m not sure if this is the route she will go but if she continues with this type of production for the next year, she is going to be someone who could have several offers at the end of the day. She just needs to stay locked in and do what she does best. Everything else will fall into place but this AAU season, she has been fantastic and I hope that continues to be the theme here.

has started off her season at the Forward position with a bang. Throughout her teams first five games, Ottemann is averaging 20.8 PPG and 7.3 RPG. Ottemann is sound. Other then her ability to score and rebound, she has also shown discipline on the defensive end, resulting in a 2 BPG average. She is smart enough to use her size whenever the opportunity presents itself and has demonstrated that she can finish through contact. Her mixture of force, balance, and vision makes Ottemann a difficult player to guard for a lot of teams. If they end up trying to double team her in the post, she usually does good job of seeing the floor and making an accurate pass out to an open teammate. For the most part this season though, she hasn’t had to do that. She has been scoring efficiently and doing it in short periods of time. As her coach, you can’t ask for much better production than that. This 2025 Class is full of talent at every position and Ottemann has been one of the best at the Forward spot going into break this season, there is no doubt about it.
