In this article we highlight five prospects from the states of Iowa and Nebraska, evaluating their play on the AAU floor up until this point. Each prospect is someone that has been a standout over the past month and that isn’t going to change anytime soon if they stay focused.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Adyson Jeltema Adyson Jeltema 5’11” | SF MOC-Floyd Valley | 2026 IA is a standout wherever she competes. Whether that is during the high school season with her MOC-Floyd Valley High School team or with her Iowa Swarm program during the AAU season. Whenever she is on the floor and playing within an offense that understands team basketball, she shines. As of most recent, Jeltema has put together a promising few months on the AAU scene, helping her receive a couple of collegiate offers this past week. The best way to describe her game would be consistent and versatile. She can do several different things asked of her on the hardwood and she is always going to give it her best effort. During the high school season she shines as one of the best on the floor, no matter the competition level, displaying that she can fit into a lot of different situations and still hold her own at a high rate. If she continues to put together an AAU season to remember and she takes that momentum with her into the Winter season, she is going to continue to put up impressive numbers.
Highlights
Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6’0″ | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE is a Creighton commit and the #1 rated prospect out of the 2025 Class in Nebraska. This AAU season she is showing up as to why that is. Gessert is scoring from all three levels on the offensive end at a high rate, she is defending like her life depends on it, and she is showing that she is going to be someone that maybe ready to come into the college level and make an instant impact with the Bluejays. Gessert’s ETG Midwest team is one that is stacked with talent so that she is standing out consistently as one of the best is impressive to say the least. There are a lot of things that she brings to the floor but her well-rounded game is the most impressive. Thats been something that has always shined in my opinion. On the high school floor, she kills it and now on the AAU floor, she is still killing it. If she keeps up this type of production the rest of this Spring/Summer season, her team is going to have a chance to run the table. It’s not going to be something that is easy to do but it’s definitely do-able at this point in time.
I’ve been impressed with the game that Kelli Storck Kelli Storck 6’0″ | PF ADM | 2025 State IA has brought to the table the past few months. Storck is a Forward with an experienced Post game. She understands her own ability to a T when she catches with her back to the basket, while also knowing the perfect combination of balance and coordination needed to beat her opponents. If the defense decides to overplay her, she is a willing and able passer but she can also score through two defenders and some contact. I know there are a handful of college coaches around Iowa that have her on their recruiting sheet for the rest of the summer and into the future. If she can keep up her smart play-style, while showing that she isn’t going to force any bad decisions. She is going to be someone that has a few college offers before her high school career comes to a close. Right now she is only worried about the AAU season right in front of her. Up until this point, she has been someone who her team can trust in when they need a play to be made and there is nothing wrong with that.
I have already mentioned Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5’10” | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA a handful of times this AAU season but it’s hard not to when she is going out there and killing it almost every weekend she competes. Zediker is shooting and passing the ball right now like one of the best in the country. She is competing on the EYBL Circuit and she is labeled as a standout in both of these Caterogies by several different evaluators, every time she takes the floor. If you are from Iowa and have been paying attention these past couple of years, you know that Zediker can hoop. Plain and simple. She is the best natural PG that this state has to offer and she makes great choices with the ball in her hands. Not to mention, she is a lights out shooter from deep, no matter what defense is being played against her in that moment. She is already committed to compete at Creighton following her high school career so she isn’t receiving any offers anymore but she is still going out and giving it her all each contest. Her All Iowa Attack 17U EYBL is one the of the best in the nation on paper and they have been showing that up until this point on the hardwood as well this Spring. If they stay on this pace, they are going to be a favorite once we get to Nike Nationals in July to bring home the Championship. If Zediker is given the ball and told to lead, I would expect nothing less moving forward.
When I had the chance to see Taryn Ottemann Taryn Ottemann 5’11” | PF Johnson Brock | 2025 State NE prior to the high school season last Fall, I was impressed with what she could do with her size and skill-set. Ottemann is a Post prospect, that moves really well down the floor in the aspects of running from rim-to-rim, doing her work early on within a possession. As time has gone on, she has seemingly gotten better, showing that she is still far from her full potential. As of most recent, she has shown this AAU season that she is a handful near the basket in the terms of scoring and rebounding. When she has time to make a play and use her size to her advantage, she is very tough to stop in 1v1 matchups. She has been so good as of late that she recently received an offer to compete with the Simpson Storm out of Iowa, following her high school career. I’m not sure if this is the route she will go but if she continues with this type of production for the next year, she is going to be someone who could have several offers at the end of the day. She just needs to stay locked in and do what she does best. Everything else will fall into place but this AAU season, she has been fantastic and I hope that continues to be the theme here.
