If she gets her back to the basket with time and spacing, it’s usually an easy bucket because the opponent can’t handle the physicality. Defensively, Burpo alters a lot of shots with her presence alone. Guards that break past NW’s first line of defense are in for a rude awakening when they see Burpo in between the blocks. Overall, there is some promise here. She competes at a solid rate so as long as she works on being her best at her Forward position, she should continue to see results.

She will simply go through anyone that is smaller/weaker, while being able to hit a counter move if she is ever cut off by someone that might be a little bit bigger. Defensively, she is a rebounding machine and someone that protects the middle of the lane well. All and all, this is someone with a D1 offer already at this time and she might field a few more before her high school career is over. If she does her thing and everyone else follows suit, who knows how far the Wolves could take things over the next couple of seasons.

Burpo, a 6’0 PF, has the height and muscle mass to pair with it that all collegiate coaches love to see. She can bully her way to several buckets and rebounds in a short period of time if the opponent doesn’t game-plan for her. She can also step out, screen, and roll for a look going towards the hoop from the outside. Burpo should be a nice piece to her team’s puzzle, if you will, for this upcoming Winter with Waukee NW. They are going to have two starters over 6’0 and that will play to their favor against in the long run if they want to de-thrown the reigning 5A Champs.

In the terms of, I’m not sure if she is going to sink or swim right away when she hits the Varsity floor. If she works on the correct things and plays her natural position, I don’t think there are too many players in the state that can match her natural size and physicality in the paint. Burpo is someone that understands how to eat up space by the rim, how to play off of others, and she knows what she does best. As long as the coaching staff can get her prepared and put in the situations that best suit her, then we are talking about someone that could make some major waves these next four years. She has been a force over the last year on the AAU scene. Now it just needs to translate to high school ball.

If she has the correct guidance, is used in the proper ways, all while expanding what she is good at, then she is going to put together four memorable seasons with Waukee NW.

She has solid height at 6’0, she is a physical body near the paint, and she is relentless in her pursuit of the basketball on shot attempts and in rebounding situations. I had a chance to see Burpo compete prior to this AAU season and she was really unstoppable against other prospects her age in the paint area. If she can build off of this physical play, while being a sound defender, she is going to find time on the floor with the Wolves in the near future at the very least.
