Zamara caught my eye as one of the top shooters that I watched at The Expo. Equally deadly off of catch-and-shoot as she was pulling off the dribble, it’s easy to see why she had a spectacular freshman season where she averaged 20.9 ppg and shot 31.6% from 3!

The Madison Country Day guard was the focal point of the Prairie Hawks’ offense in her first high school season, and they had success. Gary’s ability to handle the ball in the pick and roll, paired with her shooting when defenses went under ball screens, gave the Prairie Hawks something they could go to and rely on Gary to create an open look for herself or a teammate. I haven’t seen her play since the fall, so I’m eager to see her again.

The Madison Country Day guard significantly contributed to their turnaround this season. Gary’s shooting kept defenses honest, and when shots fell for her, the Prairie Hawks would find themselves in a position to compete. In Gary’s first season, she helped turn a winless program into one that played in a Sectional Semifinal and won a Regional Title. She’ll continue to develop and take her game as far as she wants.

One thing I love when seeing the new prospects come through are the players who pop up at nom-traditional powers in the state. Gary will start her first season at Madison Country Day, a small school coming off a rough season last year. Gary will be an influx of talent on her own, and her composure will allow her to work well against the multiple defenders teams will throw at her in the Trailways-South. She has Player of the Year potential in that conference.
