Zara is making a really strong case that she deserves a Top 10 spot, and possibly higher, in the 2030 class in Georgia. She was one of the very best players at the Prep Girls Georgia Hoops Freshman Showcase in August which included some very skilled kids. The class in Georgia maybe the best in the country (I think it is), so in any other state Mopa would be in the top three for sure. She is tall, really long, and plays with guard skills that are very rare for a kid her size and age. She pushed the ball herself in transition consistently, often after snatching a defensive rebound out of the air above the crowd. Mopa was weaving in and out of traffic with ease before dishing the ball to an open teammate or scoring herself on the break. Zara showed the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter when they were there but got to the rim and scored effectively all day long. Both parents were division one college basketball players (St. Mary’s and Vermont), so she plays with a very high basketball IQ already. Mopa was a player that really impressed at the start of the 3v3 games. In 8 minutes, she had over 14 points with her ability to finish at the basket. Always running rim to rim and keeping her head on a swivel. Once she catches it deep on the block, she finishes. Loves to post strong and showed us she can score different ways on the block.

Mopa not only can clean up around the rim and finish at the basket, but she also has the versatility to push the ball up the floor and get downhill or make the extra pass. She has high basketball IQ and knows how to use her length and athletic skill set to her advantage against any opponent. She’s a name you don’t want to forget in the 2030 class.
