One of Oklahoma’s top 2027 D1 prospects is running with GUAA program the Arkansas Mavericks. She makes for a formidable front line with teammates of similar heights. Is one of the top rebounders in Oklahoma and the region. Has so much untapped potential with her athleticism and ability to move well for her height. One example came when she grabbed a board, pushed it herself and pulled away from smaller defenders trying to take the ball from her. She then made the correct pass to a teammate for an easy two points. Sims was monstrous on the glass down the stretch for 5A runner ups Newcastle, and looks set to continue with a national schedule.

A defensive possession isn’t over till the ball has been secured. And on Thursday it was Sims’ job to end possessions. She did just that with 12 defensive rebounds and 16 total! She chipped in with 6 points on the offensive end. With her height and wingspan, she adds an extra dimension to an already tall and strong Newcastle squad.

Sims battled foul trouble throughout but was available in the fourth to put the finishing touches on the victory. Trailing by one with about a minute left, she ran the floor in transition and was there for the putback after a teammate missed. The next possession she slipped by a defender and scored again to further secure the lead. She’s a physically gifted post player, with the height and wingspan to be a true difference maker as a finisher and rim protector.

Height can’t be taught and Sims is currently the tallest prospect scouted in the Class of 2027. She first caught the eye as a freshman playing a rugged national schedule with GRIND Prep. Then she transferred to Newcastle, helping to anchor a 4A State Tournament run for the Lady Racers. Sims can be a beast on the glass. During AAU play her height and rebounding caught the attention of Missouri, Kennesaw State, South Alabama and more programs. It was clearly a productive AAU season for Sims. Now she’ll look to take her game to new levels for a Newcastle team with State Championship aspirations.

Great size, good hands and Nice footwork in the post area made Ziyah a tough matchup for opposing teams. A player that works hard on the block using her feet to gain the advantage on the defender before the pass was made allowing a good angle for the entry pass. Nice drop step moves on the block that was very effective especially if the defense played behind her. Gets up and down the floor on both ends of the floor. On defense strong physical player that does not give up the post block very easily. Excellent job at walling up and blocking shots making very difficult for opposing teams to get paint points. A potential double-double player every time she plays.

Long 6’4 forward that played the 3-5 spots in games. Great hands and solid footwork in the low post allowed to control the inside paint. Nice handles in the open floor allowing her at times to grab the rebound and start the fastbreak. Knocked down several mid range jumpers which later opened up driving lanes on poor closeouts. Good and quick early defensive rotation blocking many shots in 5 on5 play. Transfer from Grind Prep to Newcastle. Great addition to the Lady Racer program.

Size can’t be taught and even when watching Sims on stream she jumps off the screen because of it. She has a good understanding of defensive principles with verticality and positioning. Even taking a charge in the one full game watched with her. Her long arms also make her tough to keep off the offensive glass as well. Playing with quality teammates and national competition ensure that Sims’ basketball education will continue to thrive.
