Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Zoe had an impressive weekend for Full Package 17U 3SSB, and she played a major role in the teams Gold Bracket Semifinal run. Her complete impact on Saturday stood out. She hustled after 50/50 balls and boxed out with a fierce determination to secure rebounds. Zoe pushed the ball out with long strides and pace in transition after grabbing a defensive rebound, then dished out a fluttering touch entry pass on the money to a teammate in stride for the assist. As soon as she touches the ball, she’s looking to score. Zoe took a rebound coast-to-coast for a layup and swiped the ball away for a steal, then took it all the way to the rim, earning a trip to the free throw line. Her length, pressure, and quick hands created many steals on the perimeter, and she ripped rebounds away with tenacity from opposing players to keep it from being tied up. Zoe gave the offense a spark with her three-point shooting and knocked down multiple from the corner and the slot. In the semifinals on Sunday, she drilled threes, created steals, crashed the glass to secure rebounds on both ends, and swatted a shot away on a drive.

I didnt know what to expect from the Illinois prospect heading in, but once I saw her in action, it was clear why she’s so highly regarded. The wing’s decision making is elite, and as a three level scorer, she’s tough to defend. It’s hard for defenses to force her into mistakes.

Zoe has the skill set that can really fit into multiple schemes. She’s a player who can get it going from all levels, without needing any extra flashiness. Her game is simple, consistent with what she looks for, and she is active. High IQ, high motor, and she can be a strong 3&D type at the next level.

Black has been off to a hot start for her junior year.. and one thing that has been consistent for her is being a headache on the boards for her matchup. Outside of her being able to score from the arc to the rim, she makes herself an even harder guard by a player who never stands still. Could definitely see some offers being presented to her before the season is over.

Black will be a huge piece on how Prospect closes out games this year, simply because she doesn’t need the score or have the ball to add pressure to the defense. Yes, she’s a player that can score, but she can also go 3-5 possessions straight of being a playmaker. Whether it’s setting up her bigs, or finding guards who are slashing.. or just moving throughout the floor to cause lapses and head turns of the defense, to open up angles for teammates. Big fan of Zoe’s potential.

Zoe nailing a three right from the beginning!
And another three from the corner! I love her movement without the ball!! Fantastic court vision, and solid job in how she finds her teammates on cuts to the basket! She can shoot from any location!

One of the most improved players in the 2027 class, Black has begun to cement her value on the court. After getting a decent amount of playing time as a freshman, she is spending sophomore year as a prime contributor. Her biggest contribution is her scoring ability. She can shoot the 3 with ease, score in the paint and grab down rebounds for second chance points. Huge ceiling!

Prospect will be heading into the season without a couple of their key players, and Zoe has the potential to fill one of those roles. She’s an active player with a keen sense of where she and her teammates need to be. She has a strong IQ, is aware, and possesses a high motor. Zoe could be in for a very solid sophomore season.
