The 5-foot-8 wing is currently in the middle of her best season yet, and is bringing her Panthers up with her. Through eight games, Knoxville is undefeated; it’s that winning that Keitges embraces more than anything else.
“This season, since I’m a junior I just feel like I can be more of a leader, so that’s been nice. I need to keep continuing to play hard and include everyone, and just to win the game is what I want,” said Keitges.
Getting to the rack and scoring is what Keitges does best, and she’s been improving her perimeter shooting of late. She says D’ing up is a specialty of hers, too.
“I definitely think finishing at the rim is one of my better qualities. And I’d like to see my 3-point percentage continue to improve throughout the year, it’s definitely gotten better since last year,” said Keitges.
“On the defensive side, that’s always fun. I like to play defense and usually I guard the other team’s best girls.”
An All Iowa Attack product, Keitges says last spring and summer with the program was beneficial. “It was really good, the players were amazing. We did really well throughout the summer and we all got better,” she said.
And when next spring and summer comes around, it’ll be a big one for Keitges’ recruitment. For now, though, it’s winning games with Knoxville she’s most concerned with.
“I haven’t thought about (recruitment) a lot, I just keep thinking about winning basketball games,” said Keitges.
“I hope to probably have a place in mind by this time next year, but I guess I’m kind of just going with the flow right now.”
