Whether that decision is made from “inherited rules” or experiences, these programs do not stand by that type of standard. The Class of 2022 girls’ basketball players listed included teams with 3 or more freshman that make a difference in some significant way and consume many minutes in their season. All of these girls are a must see and with state and the travel season right around the corner, you will have your chance to witness these basketball players! Here is a small non-inclusive list of a few freshman in the state of Oklahoma!
Classen School of Advanced Studies (CLASSEN SAS)
Classen SAS is finished ranked #2 in class 4A. Current record with 27 wins and only 1 loss coming from #1 in 6A, Putnam City West. Classen SAS is also 6-1 against 6A opponents on the year. Don’t be fooled, Classen SAS also has a lot of other talent outside of the Class of 2022 but it’s notable that Classen SAS is one of the only teams in Oklahoma with such a supporting role of freshman.
Darianna Littlepage-Buggs: Tall and lanky player that has the skill set to play inside and out. Finishes great around the rim and a superb rebounder. Outside of those skills, she has the ability to guard any position on the court and is excellent at blocking shots
Micah Gray: Crafty player with a lot of finesse to her game. She has a very fluid shot with a soft release that almost always guarantees a made 3 pointer. She also has the ability to handle the ball well and create her own shot from all levels on the court.
Jordan Harrison: A combination of fast and quick. Jordan is excellent at facilitating the ball and managing the court with high composure, but she also has the ability to score at will. To add to that, she is a pest for others on defense by being capable to play full court defense for the entire game.
Jasmine McCloud: Jasmine gets to the rim with ease but also handles the ball well. She can be the point guard for a possession and facilitate but also play a 2 guard with efficiency at making the 3-point shot.
Jaiah Vicks: The fastest person on this team with a very high motor. She’s quick in all her movements with a lot of power behind all movements. Her defensive style is relentless and will guard you the entire time all while sliding her feet. She makes every player she guards prove their offensive ability each time.
NEWCASTLE
Newcastle checking in at ranking number 6 but the strength of their schedule is quite impressive as well. With 24 wins and just 2 losses, one from a 6A and 5A school, Newcastle usually dominates the floor with one of their wins against 6A opponents, Edmond Santa Fe. Watching this team, the ball is always in one of 3 freshman’s hands a lot, and they facilitate a lot of the functionality of these team on the defensive and offensive end of the court.
KARLY JOHNSON: Aside from being on the varsity team, the offense is ran through Karly. She goes coast-to-coast, will post up smaller guard and very crafty in her finishing. Her basketball IQ is easily seen, often forgetting that she is a freshman.
RYLEE KOPF: Athletically above her time as a freshman, Rylee is long which allows for good defense. She has improved her outside shot greatly, therefore you cannot leave her open anywhere. She is an exceptional passer and she
REAGAN FOX: Big guard that can handle the ball with both hands, ability to consistently make outside shots and doesn’t force much but allows the game to come to her.
