Game 1: Aplington-Parkersburg 49 vs. Central Decatur 57 (2A)
A game that saw Aplington-Parkersburg climb out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter was much different that we expected after the first three minutes. Central Decatur went on a tear over the final three quarters of play to secure a win. A-P scored just 26 points over the final three quarters while Central Decatur scored 46 points. Central Decatur stayed tough all game long which led them to the comeback win.
Player of the Game: Alli Masters (Central Decatur)
**21 points, 3 blocks**
Masters was really good in this one. Masters was the one that kept it going in the second half for Central Decatur and she hit her free throws down the stretch. She played a big part in the comeback win and her defense was just as good. She swatted three shots and pulled away two steals in the game showing the state that she is here to play.
Best Stat Lines
Alli Masters (Central Decatur): 21 points, 3 blocks, 2 steals
Emma Atwood (Central Decatur): 15 points, 8 rebounds
Megan Johnson (Aplington-Parkersburg): 17 points, 7 rebounds
Game 2: North Linn 44 vs. Treynor 53 (2A)
Treynor fought really hard throughout the entire game. They went down by six points early but then battled back via their defense. Borth Linn shot just 4-of-24 from behind the arc and a lot of that was due to the suffocating defense of Treynor. I really thought that they played really good defense and created a lot of havoc on that end. Didn’t expect Treynor to come out and win like this, but they pulled it out. A really good showing from Treynor.
Player of the Game: Konnor Sudmann (Treynor)
**20 points, 9 rebounds**
When North Linn made a run in the fourth quarter, it was Sudmann who salted away the game from the line. I thought that she played really well and she ended up scoring nine of her points in the fourth quarter. She was great on both ends of the floor and was active throughout. Sudmann was a player that looked really good today and will have to come up big again in their next game.
Best Stat Lines
Konnor Sudmann (Treynor): 20 points, 9 rebounds
Kylie Kurt (North Linn): 14 points
Game 3: Newell-Fonda vs. Springville (1A)
Newell-Fonda led from the opening tip and never looked back. Their pressure on the basketball was insanely good and Springville really didn’t have an answer for the pressure. Newell-Fonda easily coasted to the win and are heading back to the semi finals. It was a complete game and one of the best performances of the week so far. Springville had 41 turnovers in the game.
Player of the Game: Olivia Larsen (Newell-Fonda)
**11 points, 5 rebounds, 9 steals, 4 assists**
Larsen was on fire from the word go. She was tremendous on defense especially but got it going a little on the offensive end as well. Really liked her aggressiveness on the whole. Could have picked pretty much anyone for this spot, but her overall game was a small reflection of how Newell-Fonda played today.
Best Stat Lines
Ella Larsen (Newell-Fonda): 12 points, 9 rebounds, 7 steals
Olivia Larsen (Newell-Fonda): 11 points, 5 rebounds, 9 steals, 4 assists
Lauren Wilson (Springfield): 10 points, 9 rebounds
Game 4: Clarksville 49 vs. Marquette Catholic 62 (1A)
Clarksville got off to a quick start and built a five point lead in the first quarter. But after that first quarter, it was all Marquette Catholic. A trio of players stepped up for Marquette Catholic and led them to the win today. I think that they are such a well rounded team that they are going to be a tough out. Their next game will be a big one.
Player of the Game: Lizzy Parker (Marquette Catholic)
**19 points**
Parker did a very good job of playing within herself today. It was a bit of a battle with turnovers, as she had eight of them, but her overall game was so good that I thought she was the best player on the floor. I really liked her tenacious fight and the fact that she didn’t get upset as she was struggling a little. Provided a huge boost offensively and I really enjoyed watching her play.
Best Stat Lines
Lizzy Parker (Marquette Catholic): 19 points
Kori Wedeking (Clarksville): 20 points, 11 rebounds
Game 5: North Mahaska vs. West Hancock (1A)
In a game that West Hancock led from the opening tip, North Mahaska tried to get back in the game late but it wasn’t enough. After holding a 15 point lead in the first half, West Hancock was unable to extend it further. North Mahaska did a great job of containing the scoring of West Hancock as to not let the game get out of hand but just couldn’t put points up of their own to get in control of the game. They cut it to nine in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the slow start.
Player of the Game: Rachel Leerar (West Hancock)
**23 points, 5 steals**
Leerar came out early and often and scored 19 first half points. She was really good throughout the entire game and played really well. I thought that her scoring in the first half really sparked West Hancock as the others struggled just a little early on. A really good game from Leerar who is just a joy to watch who she gets going and is hitting shots.
Best Stat Lines
Rachel Leerar (West Hancock): 23 points, 5 steals
Amanda Chizek (West Hancock) 11 points, 13 rebounds
Emma Tyrrel (North Mahaska): 16 points, 8 rebounds
Jade Hay (North Mahaska): 13 points
Game 6: CAM 45 vs. Montezuma 59 (1A)
CAM got out to a 16-4 lead less than six minutes into the first quarter, but then Montezuma hit a switch. They went on a 21-6 run over the remaining 10 minutes of the half to take a three point lead into the half. Montezuma was spurred by four straight 3-pointers to end the half to cut the lead and then take the lead. Montezuma outscored CAM by 20 in the middle two quarters setting them apart. It was a good comeback win for a Montezuma team that has a lot of firepower.
Player of the Game: Shateah Wetering (Montezuma)
**17 points, 7 rebounds**
I thought that a big part of Wetering’s game was her ability to big down a couple of key offensive rebounds. She is a hassle to deal with because she is such a threat in all facets of the game. She is a really solid passer and in this one was able to showcase some of that passing off to teammates when she could have scored. Really liked how she played in this one.
Best Stat Lines
Shateah Wetering (Montezuma): 17 points, 7 rebounds
Elise Boulton (Montezuma): 13 points
Madison Gettler (CAM): 19 points, 8 rebounds
Paige McAfee (CAM): 11 points, 7 rebounds
