In this film session we reviewed prospects that could heat up in a matter of moments from anywhere on the court once they saw a shot fall. This group below is one that you don't want to let get hot early on in a contest or else it might end up as a career night for them from the field.

It's extremely challenging to have an article with this topic and to not include Averie Lower of CCA High School. Lower ended her high school career as the best knock-down shooter off the catch in the entire state. Some will debate that but her career numbers as a whole don't lie. Since Day 1 of Varsity basketball as a Freshman Lower has been someone to notice from the outside. Her mixture of size along with being able to score the ball at such a high rate was noteworthy then and it's noteworthy today. It doesn't take much but if she see's one of her first shot fall during a contest, you better watch out. Honestly, even if she doesn't get some of her first few shots to fall, you still have to respect her ability to make it rain from the outside because she is that good of a scoring threat off the catch.

The convertibility of Quinn Pershing's jump shot is impressive and she makes that happen because of the ten's of thousands of shots she has put up during the off-season throughout her career up until this point. Pershing has somewhat of an unorthodox way of releasing the ball but it goes in some much that you get used to it. Throughout the past Winter season Pershing was someone that everyone opposing team had to worry about for Mount Vernon. The way she moved around the outside and how her teammates would find her led to several big buckets in meaningful contests as the season went on. That was crucial and it still seemed like no one was finding her when it mattered the most because it just kept happening over and over again. This is definitely someone that you don't want to see making shots early on in the game if you are the opposing team because that usually means that she is going to be accurate all night long, no matter what type of defense you put in her face.

Whenever Kennedy Goodheart has caught the rock the past couple of seasons from deep, she has converted at a higher rate than most others. She has made a ton of buckets from the outside throughout her career at Liberty and those buckets usually weren't too close to the three point line. She was letting shots fly from 5-7 feet back whole still making easy work of things. Whenever she caught the ball her feet were always in the same spot compared to her shoulders, her stance was always dropped ready to fire away, and her release was picture perfect, which led to several three point makes over time. Goodheart will be attending Creighton, ideally joining their medical program as a full time student. She might not be playing hoops there at the next level but she is definitely going to be able to go back and be proud of all the memories she made throughout her career.

If not necessarily the fact that you can't let Macy Meyer get hot. It's the fact that even if she misses some of her attempts her or there, she is so fundamental in her movement that the next shot is still going to go up and it's going to look really good coming off of her hands. I had my doubts about Meyer leading into this past season but she proved me wrong and showed everyone watching that she is a winner, through and through, and that she can lead a program when need be. Meyer wasn't just a shoot this Winter though. She did it all for DCG as they made a star studded run to the 4A State Championships. She hit shots from deep, got to the bucket, found others at a high rate, rebounded, and defender her own position just as well. She is going to have one more chance to make some memories this next season with the Mustangs as a Senior. I'm sure she will return motivated so as long as everyone else can follow suit, who knows where things will take them.

When speaking about Alaina Dreckmeier and you say don't let her get hot, it means something different than most others in this article. It means that you can let AD get going in ANY facet of the game or else she is going to run over you like a freight train. Not literally, but metaphorically. She is very good at stacking on her success once she things going her way on either end of the floor. Most of the time it starts slow but then you notice she has 10 steals, 7 assists, and 11 rebounds by half time. From there, she just keeps on stacking until it's too much for the opponent to handle. This AAU season will be a good one for AD. She plays out of the city of Chicago so you know that she is getting some solid work in as she practices to get better in her off-time.
