State Tournament Day 6: Top Performers
At the end of each day we will be putting forth our top performers from the day’s action. You can see the top performers from the three games on Saturday below.
Grace Boffeli – 6’2 C – 2020 – North Scott
**24 points, 8 rebounds**
Boffeli was huge in this game for North Scott. She scored 21 points in the first half on 9-of-10 shooting. It was really the performance of the tournament if you look at a single half. Boffeli was instrumental in getting North Scott off to a good start against the much bigger Marion team. She is very strong with the ball down in the post and rather mobile for her size. Really liked the burst that she had today and she put her team on her back early on.
Kayba Laube – 5’9 G – 2020 – Marion
**18 points, 5 rebounds**
Laube was instrumental in keeping Marion in the game. She hit some clutch shots that kept the North Scott lead close. I really like the passion for the game she has and how under control she is with the ball. Can shoot jumpers going either left or right, as well as handle it with both hands. I thought that she played really well all week long and today fell just a little short. She has a lot to hold her head up about and her play this week showed why. Committed to Northern Iowa.
Konnor Sudmann – 5’9 G – 2019 – Treynor
**17 points, 6 rebounds**
A day after scoring 34 points to set the 2A State Tournament record, Sudmann once against played really well. She was firm with the ball and handled it beautifully even while she was gaining a ton of pressure. While being face-guarded without the ball, she never stopped moving and was very active off the ball. Really enjoyed watching her play and throughout the three days she was one of the best in the whole tournament. Committed to Briar Cliff.
Rachel Leerar – 5’7 PG – 2021 – West Hancock
**22 points, 4 steals**
Leerar was a bright spot on a West Hancock team that struggled a little bit. I thought that she handled the press fairly well and was able to get the ball to the hole. Leerar is a player who is quick and uptempo, but strong with the ball. Maybe tried to do a little too much today, but she was the only one with any offense for West Hancock. A good player and they will be back.
Megan Morenz – 5’10 W – 2020 – Newell-Fonda
**19 points, 3 steals** 9/13
Morenz was great today scoring 19 points on just 9-of-13 shooting. She had a huge second half and was the reason that they got out to their start in the second half and put the game away quickly. A great performance from a player who has a ton of upside. Morenz was making everything in the second half and was instrumental in Newell-Fonda’s press. It was a great performance by her.
