Many of the top prospects seen at the Dayton Lady Hoopsters Invitational were guards, however several post players impressed me with their various skillsets. All of the ladies listed below had nice offensive games, played physical in the post offensively and defensively, and have potential to play at the next level in basketball. Here are my top post performers from Saturday’s action.
Sydney Voss (2022) Mount Notre Dame- Cincy Nation
Sydney was one of the better offensive players when it came to making plays in the paint. She did a nice job of using her body; squaring her shoulders to the basket and going up strong through defenders. When she possessed the ball, she made aggressive moves and was strong with the ball, not allowing defenders to take it away or push her around.
Olivia Patch (2020) Fort Recovery- Dayton Lady Hoopsters Premier
Patch was unable to get much going on the offensive end as the Hoopsters found much of their offense on the perimeter and on the dribble drive. Regardless, Olivia had impressed me with her mobility and her willingness to play physical. Patch sealed off defenders and made herself available for post entry passes although few made it her way. I like the hustle she shows and although the game was not a high scoring day for her, she still without a doubt was one of the best true post players at the Invite.
Shelby Nusbaum (2020) Badin- Dayton Lady Hoopsters Premier
One of the taller players at the event, Shelby was listed as a frontcourt player but she played her best game on the perimeter. A very elite perimeter defender, Shelby can guard 1-3 and has the speed and footwork to successfully contain opposing guards. When it comes to offense, Shelby posts up well and can score on the dribble drive or when posting up. A talented rebounder as well, Shelby made plays on both ends of the floor which makes her an intriguing prospect to watch the rest of the summer.
Avery Stahlheber (2020) Edgewood- Dayton Metro-Majors
Arguably the best back-to-basket player, Avery had at least 6 points just scoring posting up against some of Dayton Lady Hoopsters tough post defenders. A physical finisher and under the radar talent, Avery made plays on the defensive end as well contesting shots and doing a nice job of defending the post.
