Continue ReadingEarlier this week, we published our top ten performers list from this past weekend at Queens of the Court. Now, we are moving into our superlatives of the best from this weekend. Next up, we have the weekend’s best scorers. These lists may include players from our top performers, but will be hard hitting on those not mentioned previously. You can find the five best scorers we saw this weekend below.
Moriah Prewitt — 2020 5’9 G — Kingdom Hoops 2020 / Des Moines Christian HS
Prewitt played really well this weekend and showed me a ton of improvement from the high school season. She is shooting the ball really well and is starting to attack the rim a lot better. This past weekend she was able to score in a ton of different ways and looked really solid doing so. If Prewitt can do this on a very consistent basis then she is going to be a really good player over the next two years.
Molly Joyce — 2023 5’6 PG — CY Select Alpha 2023 / Bishop Garrigan HS
Joyce is a really quick guard who can score really well at all three levels. She’s a lefty with a smooth stroke who can get into the lane and score at a high level. She’s a tough competitor who can contort her body to get around defenders. Joyce also has a great ability to pull-up and drain a contested jumper. Her game is going to keep developing and she is going to become an even better scorer.
Aaliyah Williams — 2021 5’6 G — Kingdom Hoops 2021 / Des Moines East HS
Williams might have struggled just a bit this past weekend but for the most part she was really good. She has the ability to knock down the deep ball but also get to the rim and score. She is a fast guard who gets to her spot really well. Williams is a tough player who has the ability to bully her way to the rim. I really think she has a lot of potential as far as scoring goes in the future.
Mallory McCall — 2021 5’9 F — Play4Him White 2021 / West Monona HS
McCall is a really strong forward who can score at will on the inside. McCall is really strong on the inside and has great footwork allowing her to score from any position on the inside. She’s a really good post player who is starting to expand her ability out to the perimeter. Once she is able to hit that perimeter shot with ease her game is going to take off. McCall is someone you can rely on to score the ball at a very high level.
Faith Putz — 2020 5’9 SG — Kingdom Hoops 2020 / Urbandale HS
Putz was shooting the ball great this past weekend but she also was able to showcase an ability to get into the lane. She’s strong, lengthy and holds quickness that will take you by surprise. Her shot is clean when she is in rhythm and can get hot quickly. She’s a threat at all times to knock down a three pointer, but can also drive the ball right by you and get to the rim to score.
