Biggest Stock Riser: Macey Blevins, Wayne County – Blevins has racked up multiple D1 offers after heading into the summer with none. With her ability to score the ball and play multiple spots on the floor, Macey’s stock has taken off in recent months and now appears to be on track to be a high major recruit by this time next year. Look for her to try to get Wayne County to Rupp Arena in March before getting back to work with Kentucky Premier for her 17u season.
Walking Bucket Award: Mya Meredith, Scott – Mya is possibly the best scorer in the state, regardless of class. She possesses a great skill set and a high IQ. Meredith can get by guards on the perimeter and knock down open shots from 3. The Junior has the whole scoring package and her recruitment reflects how much coaches value her ability to put the ball in the hoop. Look for her to continue trending up and positioning herself as the top prospect in 2021 in the state with high major schools coming after her in recruiting.
Most Potential: Trinity McGee, Christian County – You cannot teach the size that McGee has. She spent her AAU season playing up on 17u with All Ohio on the Girls EYBL and is going to be one of the best players in the second region this year. If she can raise her game another level, she is capable of carrying her team to the regional tournament and possibly farther. In the meantime, she’ll keep trying to impress coaches and earn some scholarship offers.
Most Likely to Shoot the Lights Out: Harley Paynter, Boyd County – Harley has a reputation as a shooter and it is well earned. She put up 217 threes as a Sophomore and that number will likely increase as a Junior and the go to scorer for Boyd this year. Paynter spent this summer playing up on 17u with Sky Digg Elite and left the nets scorched in gyms around the Midwest. Look for a huge Junior year for Harley at Boyd County.
110% Effort Award: Casey Coleman, Rockcastle County – Casey isn’t blessed with overwhelming height or crazy athleticism. She’s not a deadeye three point shooter. But she has already earned multiple college offers (with more likely coming) because she plays super hard. In an era where not all players go hard all the time, Coleman plays like her life depends on getting a win and that’s the kind of effort you love to see out of any player.
Lockdown Defense Award: Brooklynn Miles, Franklin County – Brooklynn is known for her ability on both ends of the floor and is a top returning scorer in the state but she made her name more widely known this summer by locking down opposing point guards in the EYBL. One of the best 2021s in Kentucky and already holding major offers, Miles impressed all summer with her ability to harass ball handlers for all 94 feet and create havoc and turnovers with her defensive presence.
