Some put their names on the radar while others earned scholarship offers. Here’s a look at the top overall performers for the event. There a ton of players at the event and I didn’t get to see everyone but here’s the ones who impressed me most on Sunday.
Lauren Lee, Casey County (2020) – Lee was probably the best pure point guard at camp. She has a high IQ and is an excellent passer. She also didn’t force her own offense, which can be an issue at the camp setting like this.
Sydnie Hall, South Laurel (2020) – Union University was impressed enough to offer Hall on Sunday. She’s known as a shooter but I was more impressed with Sydnie’s ability to finish around the rim. She’s a very good player who can be effective on or off the ball.
Rachel Presley, South Laurel (2022) – Without a doubt, Presley was the best post player in the gym on Sunday. She’s got great positional size and defensive timing as a shot blocker. She also dominates the post with her ability to finish at the rim.
Tiarra East, Butler (2021) – Tiarra is long and athletic and plays with an edge. She has the intangibles to justify her recent D1 offers and is only going to get better over the next two years.
Amiyha Jenkins, Anderson County (2022) – Jenkins was probably the best overall player at camp. She really did it all, played super hard and passed the eye test with her length and athleticism. She’s going to be in the mix as the top 2022 in the state when rankings update next week.
Claire Simmons, Ballard (2020) – Simmons was on Jenkins’ team at camp and they combined to cause a lot of trouble for the opposition. The Louisville guard plays super hard and showed some great court vision with her passing.
Olivia Federle, Collins (2020) – One of the state’s top available Seniors, Olivia was solid all day long Sunday and should have impressed some of the coaches in attendance.
Jakayla Thompson, Manual (2023) – Only a freshman, Jakayla is a walking bucket. A big time scorer already, Thompson is firmly in the conversation for top player in 2023 when our rankings come out this winter.
Casey Coleman, Rockcastle County (2021) – Coaches have told Casey that she needs to play more wing than post and I’m not sure she posted up one time on Sunday. Coleman’s game has evolved and her skill level is better now than ever before.
Anzley Adwell, Glasgow (2021) – Adwell was way off the radar coming into Sunday but was really effective in both games and left a very positive impression by the end of her second game. She’s very long and showed her ability to score inside and out.
