Deer Creek began its regular season with a match against the reigning state champions, Norman High. With odds stacked against them, Deer Creek put it all on the line, and came out with the dominant 77-71 win on December 3rd.
With leading frontman Skyler Vann, the Antlers took down the #1 Norman High Tigers.
Vann not only caused three turnovers alone, she racked up steals and blocks throughout the entire game.
Vann was the top scorer, shooting an impressive 10-17, racking up 27 points for the Antlers.
Alongside Vann, Angel Scott had 11 points to rally against the Tigers.
With Vann and Scott, Brenna Burk went 6-8 on the night her 14 points also added to the fight.
Burk and Vann were an unstoppable duo on Tuesday night, combining for 13 rebounds, respectively.
Norman High Sophomore Myka Perry had a whopping 24 points in the shocking loss for the Tigers.
Juniors Kelbie Washington and Chantae Embry combined for a staggering 23 points against Deer Creek.
Despite being ranked 12th in the state, Vann, Burk, and Scott, and the rest of the Antlers fought to the end and came out with a win against not only the reigning state champs, but also the number one team in the state, Norman High.
