Lauren Walker (Mallard Creek, Guard) led all scorers with 16 points. The future Barton College player also contributed an astonishing 6 steals on defense showing her speed and devotion to preventing fast breaks.
With 14 points, Nevaeh Brown (Mallard Creek, Guard) previewed what she will be giving Wake Forest next year. Leading the point, she found herself all over the court spreading the ball and even obtaining 7 rebounds. She helped her teammates get involved, too, with 3 assists and added 2 steals to show her defensive abilities.
Kennedy Simpson (Mallard Creek, Guard) added 13 points to the win for the Mavericks. This junior stayed calm and helped control the tempo of the game even when Ragsdale was trying to make a run. She is fielding offers from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Appalachian State University, and Elon University.
Starting freshman Samyha Suffren (Mallard Creek, Guard) had 8 points and 5 rebounds. She showed her speed throughout the game including a big rebound she took all the way to the other end for a bucket. She already has an offer from University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
For the Tigers, Diamond Monroe was the leading scorer with 15 points. The future Elon University player also added 3 assists getting her teammates involved throughout the game. She was the calm leader that Ragsdale needed to stay in the game. As a junior, her high school career is still not over.
Aijah Palmore (Ragsdale, Forward) led all leaders in rebounds with 14 boards. Her presence in the paint was dominant with grabbing rebounds, positioning herself for 5 points, and adding 3 assists when drawing the defense in towards her. The unsigned senior certainly has a lot to offer to a college looking for someone who showed great basketball IQ and strength playing down low for the tigers.
Senior guard Nyah Stallings (Ragsdale, Guard) added 9 points to the second half of play. As Ragsdale’s all time leading scorer, she came out in the second half shooting and will continue to show her stroke at Liberty. She was difficult to play against on defense adding 3 steals to her stats.
Victoria Boddie (Ragsdale, Guard) came off the bench for the Tigers giving them the spark they needed in the second quarter. Hitting some big time 3s, this sophomore has a bright future ahead for her. As a guard on the wing, her adjustments to get the ball inside to Palmore showed the intelligence she already possesses. Seeing her play for a few more years will only add to her resume.
