Zamareya Jones can officially call herself a state champion, and she earned Most Outstanding Player honors while competing for the title.  She has been having an exceptional high school career, and this year has been no different with her ability to make shots from deep.  She creates space for herself, and she has a way of getting to the rim with her shifty ball handling that is sure to result in some points.  She doesn’t back down on defense being able to pick the pocket of her opponents, and she smartly finds a teammate to hit in stride cutting up the court, or she takes it all the way herself.

Zamareya Jones immediately showed her handles getting to the basket and making some nice passes to her teammates.  Right from the jump, she attacked the basket getting to the rim and earning some trips to the free throw line almost single handedly putting her team in the Bonus.  She can definitely make her shot from deep, but she made some old fashioned three point plays, too.  She’s smart on defense being able to tie up the ball or knock it away grabbing the steal.

Zamareya Jones is a sensational all-around player. Last night, Jones helped her North Pitt team to a victory over Southeast Alamance. She dropped 35 points, and the Panthers won 86-62. In her senior season, the North Carolina State recruit is averaging 25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals a contest.

Each game, she scores over 28 points, grabs 7 rebounds, passes for 5 assists, and creates 4 steals for her team. Jones is an aggressive defender with active hands and a high basketball IQ. On the glass, she attacks the rebound on both offensive and defense. When the ball is in her hands, Jones is also a willing passer. She makes the best play – and has tremendous vision – to put her teammates in great positions to score. Jones has committed to North Carolina State University. 

Zamareya Jones Zamareya Jones 5'6" | PG North Pitt | 2024 State NC is another one who has been impactful on the national stage.  Her finesse with handling the ball is certainly fun to watch as she reads her opponents well knowing which hesitation move to use in order to blow by them.  She can finish at the rim on both sides, and she does so no matter who can get a hand in her face.  Even if she isn’t scoring at the rim or knocking down her three ball, she is the one assisting on the play drawing defenders to her to make the pass to her open teammate.

Zamareya Jones showed a lot of hustle in the game getting back on defense blocking shots on fast breaks.  She has some nice ball fakes to create some space getting open for her shot.  Her shot from deep was on point as usual.  She used her length to deflect passes all around the perimeter, and these steals would turn into fast breaks for her.  She sees the floor so well knowing how to make the perfect dish to her teammates or find the opening to pull up for her shot.

Jones is a dynamite guard playing at North Pitt High School.  She can score with the best of them. And while she is a big-time scorer her playmaking stands out. She commands the defense’s attention every time she touches the ball and when she doesn’t have a shot for herself, she will drop the pass off to a wide-open shooter. In transition, she drops dimes for easy layups to players that run the floor with her.

Zamareya Jones Zamareya Jones 5'6" | PG North Pitt | 2024 State NC moves so fluidly with the ball finding her open teammates with ease.  Her step back move for three is textbook and swishes through the hoop.  She can pull up for a midrange jumper or take it all the way to the hoop.  Her court vision is superb finding her open teammates and knowing how her defenders will close in on her opening up the court for others.  She showed off a nice floater through contact after driving to the hoop.  She doesn’t have to run the point guard position either stepping out to the shooting guard position getting open for her shot from deep.  Jones makes passes that seem to sit perfectly in the air finding their destination in the hands of her teammates.  She reads the opposing offense well jumping in front of passes to grab the steal.  She finds ways to grab the rebounds on both ends, and she immediately finds a teammate to push the ball to.
