Of the 25 players to attend the event, here are some that stood out most to me:
Fantasia Williams, 5’9” Guard, Morgan Park
Williams is a strong ball handler who pushed the ball well in transition. She showed great effort the entire time, making several hustle plays throughout the event. Williams is very skilled with the ball and a strong finisher at the rim.
Johniqua Smith, 5’7” Guard, Brooks
In my opinion, Johniqua was the top performer from the Showcase. She’s an athletic, strong Guard who handles the ball very well. She has a nice shot, but did a great job attacking the lane and finishing well in traffic.
Janai Jones, Forward, Walter Payton College Prep
Jones was another player who showed maximum effort consistently throughout the day, making a number of hustle plays. She runs the floor well in transition and finished well at the basket with both hands.
Larshana King, 5’5” Guard, Clemente
King is a Point Guard who may have had the best handles among the Guards. She was able to get in the lane with crafty moves and finished well in both transition and half court sets.
Timiria Roberts, 5’3” Guard, Clark
Roberts is a solid ball handler who did a nice job attacking the lane off the bounce. She has a quick first step to blow by defenders and doesn’t shy away from contact at the rim.
Markayla Oneal, 5’5” Guard, North Grand
Perhaps the best shooter at the event, Oneal hit on a number of outside shots. She has a good form and confident shot that help lead to consistent success.
Breeyona Burrell, 5’9” Guard, Kenwood
Burrell has a nice shot from deep, but also a ton of skill. She’s a talented Guard with good court vision, making several nice passes to her teammates. Burrell also played very solid on-ball defense, making things difficult for the opposing Guards.
