Senior Forward Skylah Travis – Weldon
Old Dominion is getting quite a player in 2020 forward Skylah Travis. Travis had just nine points and her final two came with just seconds left in regulation to lift the Lady Chargers to a 42-40 victory. Travis also finished with eight rebounds and three blocks to bolster the defense and help improve the team rebounding-wise. She battled throughout the game to power her squad to a victory and a berth in the 1A Title game.
Junior Guard Taniya Washington – Weldon
Guard Taniya Washington was a pivotal part on both ends for Weldon in their victory. Washington finished with 10 points, five in the first half as Weldon outscored the Lady Villains 17-2 in the second quarter to lead 25-16 at halftime.
Sophomore Wing Shayla Boone – Weldon
Sophomore wing Shayla Boone was fun to watch on both ends with her ability to always make an impact. Boone finished with eight points and six rebounds and was one of their most active defenders in running their opponent off the 3-point line. After starting out in zone defense, they switched things up and face-guarded everything and Boone thrived in that environment.
Freshman Guard/Wing Tate Chappell – Bishop McGuinness
Tate Chappell is only a freshman, but you could hardly tell given her decision-making on the floor. Chappell finished with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and three rebounds despite the result. She was one of their more active defenders on the floor as well. She’ll be a prospect to watch over the next few seasons.
Freshman Guard Charley Chappell – Bishop McGuinness
Charley Chappell is another freshman guard to keep an eye on for the Lady Villains. The other Chappell finished with eight points, five rebounds and three assists to lead the way at the other guard spot. She’s a crafty ballhandler that showed flashes of her potential as a playmaker in the paint.
