Sophomore Forward Amiya Joyner – Farmville Central
6-foot-2 sophomore Amiya Joyner is just scratching the surface in her second season on the hardwood with the Lady Jaguars. She put up 14 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in their 69-52 victory over the Lady Vikings. Making her presence felt was a key reason for their 22-9 outburst in the fourth quarter.
Junior Forward Janiya Foskey – Farmville Central
Junior forward Janiya Foskey is a prospect that deserves some looks from college coaches. She’s got nice hands and size in the paint at 6-foot that makes her a formidable option in the post. Foskey finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals for a team that just kept of finding ways to defend and score on Saturday.
Senior Guard Rashya Speight – Farmville Central
Rashya Speight was an impressive combo guard for Farmville Central in their victory. When the Lady Jaguars needed a bucket, she answered the call, especially in the first half nine points on three made 3-pointers. Speight posted 14 points, two rebounds and two assists to boost the backcourt of the Lady Jaguars. She’s an unsigned senior to watch in the final game next Saturday.
Sophomore Guard Jahnyah Willoughby – Farmville Central
Another young prospect to keep an eye on is sophomore Jahnyah Willoughby. Willoughby was impressive in her ability to push the pace on the break and create for her teammates. She finished with nine points and two assists and was a key part of their run in the fourth quarter with her ability to rebound and push the tempo on the break.
Senior Forward Ja’shyrah Carmon – Farmville Central
Ja’shyrah Carmon was another impressive senior in the frontcourt for Farmville Central. Carmon finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, two steals and two assists as a difference-maker in the paint. She was fearless in the paint affecting shots and getting stops. She’ll be one to watch as well in next weekend’s title game.
Senior Guard Taliyah Jones – Kinston
Taliyah Jones was the unsung hero on offense for the Lady Vikings despite the result. She finished with 20 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field to pace the offense. She’s a crafty finisher in the paint that kept Farmville Central on their heels until the very end.
Senior Guard Michyla Dove – Kinston
Michyla Dove was a senior guard that stood out for the Lady Vikings with her ability to make things happen on both ends. Dove finished with five points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals for Kinston. Her defense was a big reason things stayed close before Farmville Central made a big run in the fourth. She’s another unsigned senior for Kinston that should get some looks.
