NCHSAA 4A State Final Preview: Vance vs. Southeast Raleigh

Once again, Southeast Raleigh is back in the 4A Final, facing off against Vance in what should be an exciting matchup. The best team from Raleigh will face the best team from Charlotte, albeit a No. 7 seed in the Lady Cougars as they meet in a battle of the best at the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill. The Lady Bulldogs held Millbrook scoreless in the second quarter and went on an 18-0 run to extend their lead to 23-5 at halftime and cruised to a 43-24 victory, their third against the Lady Wildcats this season to punch their ticket to the 4A Final. [player_tooltip player_id="116849" first="Jamia" last="Hazell"] has been the unsung leader of this group, not to be overshadowed by UNC-bound forward [player_tooltip player_id="116847" first="Anya" last="Poole"]. Hazell put up 16 points against Millbrook to lead the way on offense. Junior guard <strong>Skylar Quillet</strong> put up seven points as well. With so much firepower to go around, things should get interesting this weekend against Vance, a team that won big over Mallard Creek in the West Region finals. The No. 7 seeded Vance Lady Cougars beat Mallard Creek 72-42 to avenge two losses during the regular season. Junior <strong>Amhyia Moreland</strong> led the way with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists while fellow junior <strong>Tanajah Hayes</strong> had eight points, eight assists and five rebounds. A 21-8 outburst in the first quarter by the Lady Cougars set the tone for the rest of the game and four other players finished scoring in double figures as a result. They’ll be a scrappy bunch to watch against No. 1 seed Southeast Raleigh. The two teams will square off this Saturday at 5:05 PM for the 4A State title crown. &nbsp;
