Amyah Ingram (Southern Durham, senior forward) had nine points with most of those coming from second chance opportunities. Her play on the offensive glass and in the passing lanes kept the Spartans in the game early in the first half.
Taylor Robinson (Southern Durham, senior guard) was the Spartans leading scorer throughout the season at just over 14 points per game. While she was only held to seven points in this contest, she showed the qualities of a great leader and made up for her offensive struggles on defense.
Faith Resto (Southern Durham, senior guard) knocked down four three-pointers to lead the Spartans in scoring. She hit a couple of big ones late in the second quarter to keep her team in striking distance.
Jenna Wooten (D.H. Conley, senior guard) suffered an ankle injury late in the regular season, but since her return, she’s been everything for the Vikings. Her passing in transition led to layups and three pointers that Southern Durham couldn’t match. She also rebounds well at her position, defends the passing lanes, and can score at all three levels.
Kylah Silver (D.H. Conley, freshman guard) was the best player on the floor for either team and couldn’t be stopped in the first half. She scored 23 of her game high 28 points in a multitude of ways during the first two quarters. Silver attacked the basket at will and knocked down four three-pointers all of the catch-and-shoot variety. She’s one of the top freshman prospects in the eastern part of the state and has been a consistent scorer for the Vikings all season.
D.H. Conley, the number one seed in the 3-A East will take on number five seed Jacksonville in the fourth round. The Cardinals are led by Prep Girls Hoops’ top ranked senior prospect in North Carolina: UNC commit Kennedy Todd-Williams.
