When allotted playing time, the players did not waste their opportunity as they showcased their ability to make an impact on their court for their respective teams. There were players like Zoe Borter Zoe Borter 6'0" | SG Beaverton | 2023 State OR who made their statement amongst teams loaded with talent whereas Summit’s Olive Nye provided a spark for her team when her name was called. Keelie O’Hollaren Keelie O’Hollaren 5'10" | SG Lakeridge | 2023 State OR is a high IQ guard for Lakeridge who provided significant contributions whereas Eliza Buerk Eliza Buerk 6'3" | PF Clackamas | 2023 State OR for La Salle is a post with a lot of upside solely based on her length and size. Here are the stockrisers for the 2023 class, a group that proved their worth this past season.
Zoe Borter Zoe Borter 6'0" | SG Beaverton | 2023 State OR 2023 5’11″ SG Beaverton HS – Has great height for a guard at this level, which enables her to be a good shooter and finisher. High arc and relatively fast release on her ball, good instincts offensively on cutting and basket position. Has good IQ on offense where she knows where and how to look for teammates while penetrating the defense. Good defender naturally due to length and size, but also shows the willingness to go the extra effort for loose balls and rebounds.
Olive Nye 2023 5’7″ SG Bend HS – Olive is a lightning quick guard for the Lava Bears, who will turn her defensive efforts through hustle and grit into transition offense through her quick change of pace. Her long wing-span enables her to be a great defender, as it allows her to get deflections and blocks. Good shooter off the catch, uses the momentum from her bounce off the catch into a consistent shot. Rebounds well for her position and isn’t afraid to get in the mix.
Keelie O’Hollaren Keelie O’Hollaren 5'10" | SG Lakeridge | 2023 State OR 2023 5’10″ SG Lakeridge HS – Keelie seems to be at the right place, at the right time, due in part to her high court awareness of where to be when the ball isn’t in her hands. She especially excels in offensive rebounds, which she obtains by sprinting to the basket once the shot is up in the air. O’Hollaren made her mark this past season by scrapping and hustling as she has a good touch around the basket and runs the floor on the transition. Has a mid-range game that isn’t seen nowadays and can extend her range to the three-point line.
Eliza Buerk Eliza Buerk 6'3" | PF Clackamas | 2023 State OR 2023 6’2″ PF La Salle HS – The 6’2” post for La Salle has incredible size, being the tallest player of the Falcons as a freshman last season. Eliza’s sheer size allows her to be a great rebounder and defender, as she has potential to be a force defensively. The three-sport athlete for Eliza has a lot of upside, as her father played basketball collegiately at Brown and she has it in her genes to be great. If she continues to work on the offensive game and mobility, the sky is the limit for Buerk.
