Today with Prep Girls Hoops Minnesota we’ll take a look at six names from the class of 2021 that come from all walks of life inside the post position of basketball. Some offer versatility, some offer tons of rebounds, some block shots like there’s no tomorrow, and some do all of the above.

Post’s film checks out as one of the better cuts of film I’ve seen based on the depth it goes into all avenues of her game. The 6’3 forward shows off a solid first step to the basket and the mobility to shoot occasionally from the outside. Post was key in a near upset this season I watched against Rogers, where she showed off a strong body that’s not afraid to fight for boards. She is also a consistent free-throw shooter. Post's game needs a little more polish but she has plenty of size and potential. She is a team captain for the Cardinals with a 4.0 GPA. She plays AAU for the Minnesota Stars.

[player_tooltip player_id="57158" first="Delaney" last="Hoke"], Eagan
Hoke, a 6’1 forward from the Wildcats who averaged just under 6 points per game last season, showed more of a defensive threat on tape. I recommend watching the film below from the 2:17-2:22 mark to see the aggression she can show off on defense. Her rebounding ability could offer a little more power on the boards, but her stout body type also shows mobility which is a trend forwards are playing to more. She plays AAU for 43 Hoops.

[player_tooltip player_id="29533" first="Matlyn" last="Jensen"], Rogers
One of the more versatile forwards from this group, Jensen offers flexibility. Entering the season rebounding was an area where she could improve, but she did show more strength in her rebounding ability towards the end of the year. Jensen has the range to line up from the corner and make the game-changing three pointer but can also settle for the mid range shot. She shot over 80% for Rogers at the line last season and around 41% from the field. Jensen will play AAU for FBC North 2021 this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="109788" first="Haley" last="Garman"], Redwood Valley
Garman on film is an absolute highlight reel. Averaging over 23 points per game for the Cardinals of Redwood Valley, this 6’0 forward is as versatile as you can get from the program two hours southwest of the Twin Cities. She offers a ton of upside with a strong ability to catch and shoot from beyond the arc, driving to the bucket with ease, and bruising through defenders down low.

[player_tooltip player_id="109765" first="Morgan" last="Kelly"], St. Peter
Shot block city is what you will see a lot of in Kelly’s first few minutes of film. The 6’0 foot forward from the Saints provides lots of length with a strong ability to score at will around the basket. Kelly went over 20 points five times last season and had a season high of 29 against Worthington. A few secondary pieces that Kelly offers are a pleasant outside shot and good court vision with the basketball and will take it to the hoop if needed. Kelly will play AAU for the Minnesota Rise.

[player_tooltip player_id="109799" first="Mya" last="Suess"], Kasson-Mantorville
Another very strong shot blocker is [player_tooltip player_id="109799" first="Mya" last="Suess"] from the Komets of Kasson-Mantorville. At 6’2 Suess is a very stout post player who uses her strength to get the shot she wants in the paint. That strong shot blocking ability goes on display for Suess at about the 2:15 mark and you can see it through about the 3-minute mark, where she uses her strength against the likes of Goodhue, Byron, and Stewartville. Suess averaged just under 12 points per game for the 17-9 Komets last season. Suess will play AAU for Southern Minnesota Fury.
