Samyha Suffren: The 5’7 guard has already made the top 3 point shooters in the area to know in the class of 2023, but here are reasons why she makes the list for an all around player to know. Offensively she can do a lot of things. Knock down the open 3 ball, get to the rim and finish, and she has good court vision and likes to share the ball. Defensively she is athletic and can defend well on the perimeter. She plays hard and is a tough player. She has had 7 games as a freshman where she has scored 20+ points. The one thing she has to get better at moving forward is rebounding. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization.
Kirsten Lewis-Williams: The 5’8 point guard from Lake Norman high school missed the first 7 games of this last season due to a minor knee injury, but she bounced back rather quickly. Her size and frame help her get downhill, making 1 move and getting past her defender, and she can finish going right or left. That helped her average a little under 11 points per game, and helped her go on an 8 game streak of scoring in double digits. Her mid-range game is decent and can continue to grow, and grow it out to behind the arc. Which will put her at that next level scoring ability. Laterally she needs improvement, but coming off the minor knee injury that will come with rehab and more work.
Olivia Mcelroy: The 5’10 power forward might be one of the best rebounders not only in this freshman class, but in the conference. Rebounding is all about wanting the ball more, and she goes and gets it. Averaging a little over 6 per game as a freshman is something we do not see a lot of, she had 7 games this season where she grabbed 8+. She is in constant motion when on the court, sprints back on defense and in transition trying to see the whole court, moving around on offense to get open, or get her teammates open. She is a tough, hard-nosed player who needs to be watched over the next 3 years. She plays AAU for the Lady Attack Elite organization.
Nevaeh Farmer: The 5’4 point guard from North Meck high school came in and helped the Vikings back court a lot this season. On the defensive end she is all over the place, flying around and making plays. She gets up in the person she is guarding and tries to turn them over to convert it in easy buckets on the other end. She pushes in transition, and makes the pass to the open teammate. For a freshman to have more assists than turnovers in a season seems unheard of. Over the next 3 years I am sure she will work on becoming a more consistent 3 point shooter, and making better shot selections. She plays AAU for the NC Lady Ballers organization.
Zoe Henderson Zoe Henderson 5'11" | SF Northside Christian | 2023 NC : The 5’10 power forward also from North Meck had a very strong rookie season. She is long and active, especially on the defensive side. She is another one who flies around and makes plays and takes it herself to convert the easy 2 points on a fast break. She has good size and speed, which allows her to get downhill quickly. In the next 3 years I am sure we will see her get even more under control and her finishing around the rim become even better. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization.
Leigh Marks: The 5’9 small forward from Lake Norman high school moves extremely well without the ball. She knows how to setup cuts to get herself open and get easy buckets, she knows how to step out and knock down the 3 ball at a pretty consistent rate when the defense is sagging off or in zone. She has a high IQ and uses it while playing. She is comfortable putting it on the floor and getting into the paint to finish. With her size she can develop into a better rebounder over the next 3 seasons. With her size and ability to knock down the 3 she has great upside.
