Jyana Salton: The 5’9 point guard from Porter Ridge high school had a breakout freshman season. She plays fast and hard the entire game. Her size and athletic ability allows her to overpower her opponents. As a point guard she is a good rebounder as well, which got her, her 2 first double-doubles of her career. Her career best came with a 28 point, 12 rebound win mid-way through the season. As much upside as she has, moving forward she will have to work on shot decision, and working on that left hand. In the next 3 years though I know everyone will know her name.
Mia Xerras Mia Xerras 5'6" | CG Myers Park | 2023 State NC : The 5’6 point guard from Myers Park high school made the 3 point shooters to know list, but she does much more than just shoot it over 50% from deep. She has very good court vision and for a freshman makes good decisions when the ball is in her hands. She likes to push in transition and has athletes around her to finish the plays she starts. She can take her defender off the bounce to get into the paint where she either finishes or dishes off to an open teammate. She scored 22 points twice this season in 2 big wins for MP, she has the potential to make a lot of noise over the next 3 years. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization.
Megan Brandon: The 6’0 center from Porter Ridge high school is going to be a handful inside. She uses her size inside to dominate on the boards for a freshman. She had 8 different double-digit rebounding games this last season, including a double-double career high with 17 points and 18 rebounds. She does not mind being physical, and will go up against bigger players with no issue. Getting into better shape will come with more playing and training in the next 3 seasons, and the better shape she gets into the better she will become at finishing and an even bigger beast on the boards.
Cheyla Scott: The 5’10 small forward from Butler high school is a tremendous athlete. She is long and can jump out of the gym. She is active and all over the court on the defensive end, which does tend to get her into some foul trouble from time to time. She tallied a triple-double with points, rebounds, and steals (18, 10, 10) this last season. She is very raw offensively, she gets her points from playing so hard she is in the right place at the right time, or lets her defense create her offense. I am very excited to see how she develops over the next 3 seasons.
Payton Oliver: The 5’1 guard from Porter Ridge high school joins her teammates on this list as a feisty defender with the potential to become a good 3 point shooter. With PR being such a young team, she has a good shot, but needs to work on shot decisions, which will come over the next 3 years and learning the game more. She is not afraid to challenge bigger opponents, she comes after them on defense and harass them.
