As I mentioned in the first article in this series, Kansas state level politics got in the way late in the week. On the positive side, the small field of Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma programs did see their teams get some serious floor time on the courts of Wichita Sports Forum. The first two articles in the series looked at players of two Kansas programs. This is the second to look at the players of a Oklahoma program. The link to the first article is provided above. Oklahoma Lady Fusion was the first Oklahoma team to have a write-up. Overall this is fourth in series of player evaluations being shared by team or program.
Abby Guffy, 5’0″, Cherokee, SG, 2023 — Guffy uses plenty of arch to get her shot over bigger players. Boxed on three point shots and released for the carom well.
Kaylyn Aldrich, 5’3″, Okeene, SG, 2023 — Aldrich shoots perimeter shots well off the catch. Able to hit the corner three.
Katelynn Penner, 5’4″, Okeene, W, 2023 — Penner is a game defender. In the half court she showed and understanding of giving-ground footwork against the ball looking to drive. Getting quicker will help her win more of those battles.
Madison Schmidt, 5’4″, Okeene, CG, 2023 — Schmidt ran some point. She gets to the hole off the bounce and shows athleticism on the shot. Schmidt can hit the quick 8′-10′ baseline jumper.
Alice Watkins, 5’6″, Chisholm, PG, 2023 — Watkins is a strong passer with a strong mid-range game. She has strong vision to ability to make interior passes and the tough entry bounce pass. Watkins can score in transition and with her face-up game within 10′ in a variety of ways.
Alyssa Johnson, 5’6″, Garber, CG, 2023 — Johnson is fast to the basket and is unafraid of contact on the finish.
Kamilah Gay, 5’10”, Garber, 2023 — Offensively, Gay showed a good head and shoulders back-to-basket jig to set up shot. She is not quick to box if she does not already having inside position. But if she does, she boxes and clears rebounds well. Gay makes good decisions and has hands. She also has three point range.
