So, here is the list I came up with for you, it is full of great ball handlers and passers. These are kids that are another coach on the floor that can penetrate and reward their post players for all of their hard work.
- Anna Blank Anna Blank 6'0" | CG Olney | 2022 State IL is a 5’11 2022 Point Guard from Olney. Anna has a fluid and athletic way in which she plays the game. During the high school season she tends to score more as they is what they need. Once Anna gets to the AAU season she shows her natural point guard skills. Anna can handle it and pass with the best around and uses her strength to hold off any pressure the other team tries to apply.
- Brynn Tabeling Brynn Tabeling 5'4" | PG Tuscola | 2021 State IL is a 5’4 2021 Point Guard from Tuscola. Brynn is a shifty left handed point guard that uses her dribbling and fundamental approach to beating defenders. She does a good job of using simple jab steps and change of direction dribbles to get downhill. Brynn is excellent coming off ball screens where she is able to read her back side post and her post that is rolling and set them up for layups when the defense breaks down. Brynn can score it but really shows the true point guard skills that a coach loves.
- Rachel Holthaus Rachel Holthaus 5'6" | PG Pana | 2022 State IL is a 5’6 2022 Point Guard from Pana. Rachel handles the ball well which allows her to penetrate and dish to her open teammates. While she is still a bit thin she does a good job of handling the pressure when other teams apply a press. Rachel does a good job of limiting turnovers and keeping her team in their offense.
- Jessa Vetter is a 5’5 2021 Point Guard from Greenfield. Jessa is a player that loves to be going at full speed. She gets end to end at great pace and will attack the basket. Jessa is comfortable passing or scoring herself when the defense makes their decisions. She changes directions well in the half court which makes her hard to keep out of the paint.
- Jacey Eubanks is a 5’5 2022 Point Guard from Benton. Jacey is a true point guard and facilitator on the floor. She can handle and attack going either way and find her open teammates. Jacey has grown up around the game and shows the smarts and game management skills to be a coach on the floor.
- Shelby Taylor is a 5’5 2021 Point Guard from Gillespie. Shelby is a strong left handed point guard that runs her team well. She can get into the lane consistently through a very patient approach. Shelby is not an explosively athletic player but handles the ball well and uses her strong lower body to control her defender and create an opening. Once Shelby sees that opening she will quickly attack.
- Caydee Kirkham is a 5’5 2022 Point Guard from Illini West. Caydee had good ball handling skills. She has always had the ability to see the floor and know the game but as a sophomore her ability to score improved. This has made even more valuable as a playmaker as the defense is forced to honor her ability to score. Caydee is a gym rat that is constantly looking to get stronger and improve her game.
- Kylie Kisgen Kylie Kisgen 5'6" | PG Freeburg | 2023 State IL is a 5’5 2023 Point Guard from Freeburg. Kylie will take over the point guard duties next year and should handle it well. She is a left handed quarterback on the floor. Kylie is mature beyond her years and had some huge games in big spots as a freshman. She sees the floor well and can use her skills to get in the lane. She does a good job of finding her post players and rewarding them for their work.
- Taya Davis is a 5’7 2021 Point Guard from Decatur MacArthur. Taya uses her exceptional speed and quick first step to push the ball up the floor and get to the lane. She is a pass first player and can find the right spot for a pass. Taya has a knack for seeing the play and passing the ball to the spot the offensive player needs to be in to have the best chance to score.
- Bailey Wallbaum is a 5’7 2021 Guard from Porta. Bailey is a very versatile guard that can impact the game in many ways. She can handle he ball very well and averaged over 4.6 assists per game last year. Bailey is explosive in her first step on the drive to the hole. She is a great example for her teammates as she works very hard and does not stop until she gets results.
- Khloe Damm is a 5’10 2021 Point Guard from Illini Central. Khloe has excellent vision and understanding of what is happening on the court at all times. She uses her height well which allows her to find better passing angles. Khloe has a very quick first step and enough ball handling and flare to her game that she can create moves and space on her way to the basket.
- Lilly Null is a 5’8 2022 Point Guard from Sullivan. Lily is an explosive player that can get where she wants with the basketball. She does a good job using that quickness to find space in her first step on her to the rim. Lily has the ability to work through contact and then make good decisions where to pass the ball or to score if they cheat on the passes.
- Kristin Edmonds is a 5’7 2022 Point Guard from Anna-Jonesboro. Kristen is a capable of attacking with either hand and looks to get her teammates easy shots. She can really handle the ball very well and is creative around the rim. Kristen really has the ability to score but is an excellent facilitator who makes the right play.
I look for these floor generals to lead their teams to excellent years next season. There are some very talented players here, from D1 prospects ( Blank) , down to some promising freshman talent ( Kisgen). Most of these girls project to NAIA/D3 talent but all of them will be able to contribute at the next level.
